Challenge Your Nail Art: Sea Creatures

Hiya guys! Talk about a slow day, it feels like every minute takes an hour to tick. Did that even make sense? Haha. Tuesdays and Thursdays are nail art days here at Manicured and Marvelous. But this isn't just any ol' nail art day because it's time again for the Challenge Your Nail Art monthly prompts. I'm super excited about this month since I had to skip August due to other commitments. For September, there are a total of five challenges happening all this week. I'm not sure I'll participate in every one but I'll do my best. For the first day, which was actually yesterday, the theme was 'Sea Creatures'. I was so stumped on what to do, but this is what I came up with:

Challenge Your Nail Art: Sea Creatures

Admittedly this took a lot longer than I would have liked. But that's the price of a cute mani, right? It was all silly mistakes too. Like bumping my still wet nail against the desk type of things. I seriously redid my index finger like three times.

My base is a gradient using two polishes from the Maybelline Bleached Neon Collection, Dayglow Teal and Lime Accent. Over the gradient I used Winstonia's Image Plate Series 1 Aquarium using black stamping polish from Konad. I really wanted to do decal stamping, but it was not happening. Like at all. Clearly this was a bad day for nail art for me, haha. As an alternative, after I stamped the image on my nail I used acrylic paint to carefully color in the image. Didn't turn out too shabby so I might end up doing this again sometime.

I'm putting up a video on my Instagram @roselynn787 showing the quick and easy way I do my gradients. I'll start scaling up the difficulty of my nail art videos with time, but for now I'm honestly just trying to get used to the concept. Just a thought, but would you guys be interested in full-length videos on YouTube for my art? It's an idea I've been playing with for some time now. Let me know what you think.

Really hope you guys like what I came up with and hopefully I can do another prompt or two before the week is over.

  1. I hate when you bump your mani - especially when it's practically perfect!! I totally feel your frustration. But your mani looks uber-cute and I love it!

    1. You're so sweet! Thank you. It seems like the more careful I try to be the more I bump it against things haha.

    1. Haha thanks. Whenever I'm involved there's trouble aka spilled polish/acetone and ruined manis.
