Zoya - Naturel Satins Collection

Hiya guys, how's it going today? The sun is shining and melting this icky snow fast, woot! But not fast enough, because I'm freezing today. Drink of choice? Vanilla chai tea from Dunkin Donuts, like all day every day. What's your favorite drink in the winter season? As I was sipping away last night, I ended up finishing up my swatches for the highly anticipated Satin Collection by Zoya. I apologize for the delay, but the wait is over so come feast your eyes on the first collection of 2015!

Zoya - Naturel Satins Collection

The Naturel Satins Collection by Zoya is now available for purchase. You can find the entire collection at top salons, spas and on zoya.com. If you enjoy the sleek satin finish, then you'll be happy to know that coming soon Zoya will be releasing a Satin Seal Topcoat.

The Satin formula is a hybrid between matte and glossy polishes and is not intended to be worn with a top coat. The finish and consistency in formula throughout the Satin collection are almost identical, minor exceptions for one or two. All of them tend to have a bit of a tricky application and look streaky in the first coat. In order for the second coat to even out the polish, you need to let the first dry for a bit before applying. Anything more than two coats seems to thicken the finish too much and add a lot to the to dry time.

Ana
Zoya - Ana

Ana can be best described as a light toasted almond cream in the exclusive Satin finish. I think my skin complexion makes this one looks more rosey than intended. It's a gorgeous nude shade, perfect base for nail art. All I can think about is adding some floral designs over it. Formula wise, Ana was the most difficult to 'get right'. The first swatch I did was entirely uneven and thick because I decided to go with three coats. So I removed it and tried again, this time doing two very thin coats... these photos are the result!

Brittany
Zoya - Brittany

Brittany can be best described as a rose mauve cream in the exclusive Satin finish. Love, love, love this one! If you have to choose on getting just one, than this is the one ladies. Out of all the shades, I think this one has the smoothest formula and applies the evenest in a single coat.

Zoya - Brittany

Leah
Zoya - Leah

Leah can be best described as a lavender tinged taupe cream in the exclusive Satin finish. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting this shade such a strong lavender color whatsoever. From the looks of the bottle, the shade seemed more dimmed down. Regardless, I'm really liking the shade for the upcoming spring season. Very soft and elegant.

Zoya - Leah

Tove
Zoya - Tove

Tove can be best described as a misty slate grey cream in the exclusive Satin finish. I feel like this is really a interesting and unique shade, definitely haven't owned one quite like it before. I really like how the shade looks against my skin-tone as well. I think the satin finish is really prominent here, don't you? The finish and color combo makes it look extremely creamy! For these swatches, I used two thin coats.

Zoya - Tove

Sage

Sage can be best described as a mossy sage green cream in the exclusive Satin finish. Probably my least favorite shade, but still a pretty color to have. Application for this particular one was similar to Ana and was quite streaky in a single coat. I carefully ended up layering three coats and it turned out quite smoothly. As I mentioned before, the one plus this formula has is how well it evens out with a second coat.

Rowan

Rowan can be best described as a suede taupe cream in the exclusive Satin finish. This by far the darkest of all the satin shades, but one of my favorites. I honestly didn't want to take it off after swatching it! I think it's the perfect base for some bright stamping or art. Swatched here with two easy coats.

Overall I wish the formula was just a tad better because I'm in love with the neutral shades. Initially I didn't expect 'satin' to be that much different than the matte polishes I showed you last month. I was definitely wrong! The finish adds so much dimension to each one of the otherwise simple creme colors. My personal top recommendations are Brittany and Rowan, hands down! As someone who does a lot of nail art and stamping, I'm loving these colors for bases. But tell me guys, which one are you thinking of getting? Or is the tricky formula too much of a turn off?

The Naturel Satins Collection from Zoya is available for purchase at zoya.com. Each one retails for $9.00 and the entire set of six can be purchased for $54.

  1. I think I like the hue of Sage the best, but I'm not sure I'm totally in to the Satin look. I like my polishes shiny!!!

  10. I do love the colors and finish on these polishes, but I'm arguing with myself about paying $9 for know formula/application issues

  11. I think I had a completely different experience with these polishes than most people. They applied great for me. It's so weird how different people can have different expereinces with them. I think Sage and Tove are my favorite on you.
