Dam Nails - Thermal Valentine Trio

Hiya guys. How many of you are stuck in the snow or just generally freezing your nails off? I'm at work, but there's no heat in the office or very little. This is not ideal. But weirdly enough it's perfect for the polish I'm rocking right now. No, I haven't completely lost my marbles haha. I'm talking about the fabulous-ness known as thermal polishes! This afternoon I'll be showing you guys swatches for the Valentines Trio by Dam Nails, whom is a relatively newer indie on the block. Based in Virginia, Angie has quite a selection of thermals outside this trio in her shop as well. And you'll be happy to know Dam Nails is 5-free like most of the indies we know and love. Now let's get to the swatches!

Dam Nails - Thermal Valentine Trio

The Valentine's Trio by Dam Nails is available for purchase in a set for $25.00. If you prefer individual bottles the full size can be purchased for $9.50 or mini size for $6.00.

Hearts and Kisses
Dam Nails - Hearts and Kisses

Hearts and Kisses is described as a thermal nail polish with pink and gold holographic glitters. The colors shift from red when cold and pink when warm. The glitters come to life as the polish changes color to color. I absolutely love the look of this particular one when it's in transition. I was not expecting to love this thermal as much as I do, definitely a nice surprise.

The formula and consistency were pretty good. Each coat layered itself quite easily and didn't clump up the glitters. The color shift happens instantaneous with the temperature change and as you can see is very noticeable. For the swatches of Hearts and Kisses, I used three thin coats and sealed it with a glossy top coat.

I Pink Not

I Pink Not can be described as a thermal nail polish with holographic silver glitters. The color changes from black when cold to light pink when warm. I hadn't previously seen photos of any of these, so when it came to the color changing effects I wasn't sure what to expect. This one blew me away, to say the very least. I was not expecting such a huge and flawless color shift .

Identical formula to the previous thermal, the consistency is great without being too thick or too thin. The full-on micro glitters do not hinder the application whatsoever. Sheer in one coat, I applied three thin coats for a fully opaque finish. Because of the quantity of the glitters, you'll risk looking slightly textured if you do not apply a thick and glossy top coat.

Dear Fuchsia Husband
Dam Nails - Dear Fuchsia Husband

Dear Fuchsia Husband can be described as a thermal nail polish with fine pink glitter and holographic purple glitters. The color shifts from purple when cold to pink when warm. While I don't feel the transition is as dramatic as the others in the trio, I still love the colors. The shades are also happen to be very Spring and Summer friendly!

The formula worked pretty well, although I found the consistency to be a little bit on the thin side. The layers end up evening out pretty well and don't cause any issues when applying. As the others, the color shift is almost instantaneous with your body temperature. For these swatches, I used three thin coats and applied a glossy top coat.

Overall I'm extremely impressed and surprised with the the Valentine's Trio by Dam Nails. For an up and comer, Angie has already nailed the execution of thermals. Personally, I find this not only impressive but a much needed dose of freshness. I have always been a huge fan of thermals in the past and these hold up to my exceptions. I love the huge color shifts and so my 'must have' recommendation is I Pink Not.

As I mentioned before, the Valentine's Trio by Dam Nails is available for purchase in a set for $25.00. If you prefer individual bottles the full size can be purchased for $9.50 or mini size for $6.00.

Are you guys a fan of thermals like me? If so, what are some of your favorite color shifts?

  1. It's actually been crazy hot in my neck of the woods (northern Nevada)! I'm sorry you're freezing :P These are cute! I haven't gotten into thermals, my nails are usually not long enough for there to be a noticeable change unless I dunk my hands in water haha.

  30. I love how noticeable the shift is in these! Unfortunately, since I live in the tropics the only way I ever see the cold version is if I dunk my hands in ice water so I don't buy a lot of thermals.
