Hiya guys. It's my birthday! Woohoo! And what does a polish addict want on her birthday, well... more polish of course. That answer wasn't surprising, was it? Haha. For today I'm sharing swatches for the Sassy Pants 'n' Friends August Trio. This month the theme is Lei'd in Hawaii, which is inspired by the beautiful exotic plumeria flower used to make Leis. Don't you just love a good play on words?! XD The guest brands in this month are Chirality Nail Polish and Black Label Nails. I'll have a video review/unboxing posted this weekend, be sure to subscribe so you can be alerted when it goes up. Now let's get to the swatches.
Chirality Nail Polish - Kamanawanaleiyah
Kamanawanaleiyah by Chirality Nail Polish can be described as a light petal purple holographic polish with a shimmer. I love everything about this shade and it's my pick for stand-out polish in this box. The formula is so opaque I felt like this could be a one coater. Consistency wise it felt a little thick, but it's the kind of thickness you want to have so the polish has a steady application. Shown here in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Chirality Polish - Toe Separators
Chirality Polish has included a set of toe separators to get those tootsies hula ready! It's actually been ages since I painted my toes, so these come quite in handy for me.
Black Label Nails - Lei Over in Maui
Lei Over in Maui by Black Label Nails can be described as vibrant pink with a gold and yellow shimmer. Unfortunately this particular shade doesn't seem to suit my skin-tone as much as I hoped it would. I also had a mishap with my cap/bottle as you can see below some of it leaked out during shipment. The formula also gave me a few issues during the application. I found the consistency to be a bit thick and difficult to layer, which I needed to be able to do since this is a very sheer polish. I ended up adding a bit of thinner and that seemed to help enough so I could layer a third coat and have an opaque finish. Shown here in three coats and a glossy topcoat.
You guys will see when I do the unboxing video, but my bottle had a mishap on its way to me. The polish spilled and dried around the cap of the polish as if it wasn't sealed all the way. There wasn't anything spilled in the box or even in the baggie that the polish came in though, so that was the good news at least. Just a bummer because this was my first time trying out this brand.
Black Label Nails - Clay Flowers
Black Label Nails has included mini polymer clay flowers. These are perfect for a fun tropical mani! I will say though I wish there was a little bit more included because these are adorable! You can also peel off the cute sticker on the baggie to reuse or maybe stick on your helmer.
Sassy Pants Polish - You Had Me At Aloha
You Had Me At Aloha by Sassy Pants Polish can be described as an green with a turquoise shimmer and bright green micro-glitters. I wish my photos could do the sparkle justice, it's so gorgeous in person. The formula has a sheer and thin consistency similar to a jelly polish. Shown here in three coats and sealed off with a glossy topcoat.
Sassy Pants Polish - Cuticle Balm
Sassy Pants Polish is debuting a brand new product to her shop in this box and it's a moisturizing cuticle balm in Plumeria scent. Another highlight of this box and my favorite item, this cuticle balm is amazing! I used it between every swatch and my skin felt fantastic. Super moisturizing and it doesn't leave your skin oily.
Overall I can't say this is my favorite box in the series, but I think it is my favorite theme so far. I love the play on words throughout the box, it's very tongue in cheek and I love that kind of stuff. It was also my first time trying out the two guest makers. I know I probably always say this, but these boxes are always my favorite way to try out a new brand. It really shows how creative the makers can get with with themes.
To recap, the Lei'd in Hawaii Box will be available for purchase on August 1st with only a limited number of boxes ready to ship! Additional boxes may be opened up as a pre-order.
