Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Victorian Christmas Collection

Hiya guys! Sorry I've been MIA this week, but I ended up hurting my back really badly on Thanksgiving. Pretty much to the point of being unable to move or walk. But don't think for one second that's stopping me from polishing. Nothing can keep me from the mani cave for too long. So for today I'm sharing swatches for the upcoming release of the Victorian Christmas collection by Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish. All the colors and names in this collection are inspired by the Victorian Era Christmas: decorations, clothing, games, etc. Without further ado, let's get to the swatches!

Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Victorian Christmas Collection

The Victorian Christmas Collection by Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish will be available for purchase on Friday, December 2nd at 12PM EST. Each full-size 15mL bottle retails for $10 or in mini-size 8mL for $6. You can also purchase the full-size set for $62 or in mini-size for $38.

Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Caroling Dress
Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Caroling Dress

Caroling Dress can be described as rich dusty blue shimmer with a metallic finish. What's Christmas without a classic blue?! The metallic undertones really make this color so vivid and sparkly.

The formula has a sheer application, but layers smoothly to opaque finish. It also has a really nice consistency, not too thick or too thin. I didn't experience any staining, which is always nice in a rich blue. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Gold Trinkets
Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Gold Trinkets

Gold Trinkets can be described as a warm antiqued gold shimmer with a metallic finish. Is this not the most regal gold you've ever seen?! It completely hits the mark for the Victorian tone. It also looks so good against my skin-tone making it easily one of my all time favorite golds.

The formula has a sheer application, but it builds to opaque finish easily. Minimal brush strokes are visible, but they mostly blend out after topcoat. Waiting to fully dry between coats also helps reduce their visibility. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Parlor Games
Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Parlor Games

Parlor Games can be described as a rich dusty red shimmer with a metallic finish. I'm a huge fan of red polishes and this one doesn't disappoint. It again nails the Victorian tone, which adds a really refreshing take on the classic holiday red we'd normally see.

The fornula has the same sheer application and great build-up. I experienced no staining with this shade on removal. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Peppermint Candy
Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Peppermint Candy

Peppermint Candy can be described as a creamy white crelly packed with tinsel glitters and added holo sparkles. White crelly polishes have always been such a weakness for me. Absolutely love them, especially now that you see them so scarcely.

The formula applies sheer with the consistency being a bit on the thick side. While I do think it's manageable, I feel like the next time I use it I'll need to add thinner. That aside, there are ample glitters in each brush stroke. Definitely no fishing for glitters here. It dries to a gritty finish due to the amount glitters, but topcoat smooths it down. Shown here in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Silver Sleigh Bells can be described as a light antiqued silver shimmer with a metallic finish. Another one of my favorites in this collection! I love, LOVE, how it looks against my complexion. Like with Gold Trinkets, it's a difficult color to find that compliments my skin tone. Best believe I'll be wearing this beauty a lot during December!

Again, similar formula and application as the other shimmers. Sheer initially, but builds up smoothly for an opaque finish. There are some visible brush strokes, but these blend out perfectly after topcoat. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Under The Mistletoe can be described as a soft dusty green shimmer with a metallic finish.

Similar application, formula, and consistency as the other shimmers. No staining from this beauty as well.  Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Tinsel

Tinsel can be described as a glitter topper packed with red, green, gold, silver and white tinsel glitters. Normally I'm not a fan of 'chunky' glitters, but there is always that one polish that changes your mind. This is mine, haha. The shininess of the glitters really makes this topper come to life, especially over a dark base.

The formula has a great consistency for the glitter application. Each brush stroke has plenty of glitters disperse onto the nail without clumping. There was no need to dab or fish for glitters. Shown over a black base with two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

With the release of this collection, there will also be a brand new item added to the shop... cuticle oil! These will be available in 5ML roller bottles for $6 or 8ML brush bottles for $7.

The cuticle oil comes unscented only for the time being. I've been using it for the past few weeks and I like it a lot more than I thought I would. Normally I'm all about really strong scents, so it was very different to go with none this time.

For my review, I used the cuticle oil twice a day - morning and right before bed. I didn't use it between swatching because it did leave behind a lot of shine on my skin. The formula felt so refreshing and revitalizing, especially after a long day swatching! However I noticed it didn't fully absorb, there was always a bit of oil just on the surface on my skin. It wasn't enough though that made my hands look oily, which is key. Personally, this wasn't an issue for me because of the nature of my routine. All in all I definitely see myself continuing to use this cuticle oil as part of my nightly regimen.

Overall I adore the regal look and tones of the shimmers in this collection! The slight diversion from the normal holiday color hues makes these shades really refreshing. Like yes it's a red shade, but it has that dusty undertone that makes it feel so vintage and... well just refreshing! It's so hard to pick a favorite, but I have to go with Gold Trinkets. It's definitely not a color I would have expected to love, golds always seem to clash with my skin-tone. That's definitely not the case this time around and so it won out for my pick as must-have. Now tell me, which one is your favorite?

To recap, the Victorian Christmas Collection by Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish will be available for purchase on Friday, December 2nd at 12PM EST. Each full-size 15mL bottle retails for $10 or in mini-size 8mL for $6. You can also purchase the full-size set for $62 or in mini-size for $38.
