Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Not Quite Black & White Collection

Hiya guys! Back to the Monday grind... woo. I'm running on about two hours worth of bad sleep. Many mistakes were made last night including drinking too much caffeine and buying a new book before bed. Yup, I stayed up reading a angsty romance novel until 4am. Not sure why that sounded like a good idea at the time, but here we are. At least I can count on my nails looking good... while the rest of me looks like a Walking Dead extra. So for today I'm sharing swatches for the Not Quite Black & White Collection by Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish, which consists of five stunning shades. Let's go ahead and get to the swatches.

Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Not Quite Black & White Collection

The Not Quite Black & White Collection by Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish is now available for purchase. Each full-size 15mL bottle retails for $10 or in mini-size 8mL for $6. You can also purchase the full-size set for $45 or in mini-size for $27.

Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Elephants Are My Favorite

Elephants Are My Favorite can be described as a greyish taupe with slight gold shimmer. Starting off the review with my favorite from this collection. I feel like the hue is super unique and gorgeous on all skin-tones. Not to mention it'll look great no matter the season or occasion. Definitely makes the cut as one of my all-time favorites.

The formula has a really opaque consistency, but not quite a one coater. The application has such a fantastic creamy consistency as well, not too thick or too thin. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - To The Chalkboard
Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - To The Chalkboard

To The Chalkboard can be described as a slate gray shimmer with a matte finish. I think this may one of the first matte polishes from Poetry Cowgirl ever. Now, of course, I totally want to see a complete matte collection from her!

The formula has an opaque consistency, but again not quite a one coater as it leaves behind some patches. It has a really smooth application and easy layering. Dries to a completely matte finish on its own. Shown in two coats and no topcoat.

Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Elephants Go Dancing
Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Elephants Go Dancing

Elephants Go Dancing can be described as a medium gray packed with pink and blue micro flakies. I am loving the color combination in this shade. The vibrant flakies compliment the gray so perfectly without overshadowing it. So gorgeous!

The formula has a jelly-like application with a very sheer initial layer. It builds up really nicely and has a great self-level factor as well. Definitely has the whole jelly sandwich squishy look! Dries to a minimally gritty semi-satin finish that can be smoothed out with topcoat.. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Lights on The Horizon

Lights on The Horizon can be described as a rich black with red and blue sparkles and a slight green flash. Another favorite of mine, I love how rich in tone this shade is. I feel like my pictures really don't do the sparkle any justice.

The formula has a sheer initial application, but builds up quite quickly for great coverage. I found the consistency to be a little on the thin side, very manageable though.Very smooth formula, feels like it just glides right onto the nail. It dries to such a high-shine on its own as well. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Strawberry Milk
Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish - Strawberry Milk

Strawberry Milk can be described as a pale almost-white pink with hints of gold sparkles. There is always a polish that stuns you in a collection and this one was mine. I wasn't expecting such a light tone to mesh well against my complexion, but I did end up really liking it. Especially with the subtle gold shimmer giving this shade such a dainty and sophisticated feeling.

The formula has a sheer application, but does build up nicely for full coverage. The consistency is very smooth and not too thin or thick making layering very easy. In the photos it's not noticeable, but you can see my nail line very faintly. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Overall I'm loving everything about this collection, I truly feel it has the best formulas I have experienced from Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish to date. The must-have pick has to go to Elephants Are My Favorite, not only is it a unique shade but it has a fantastic formula as well. The color palette itself is actually one of my favorite things about this collection. Not only is it an office-friendly color selection, but it's so refreshing to have some serene transitional shades to chose from.

To recap, the Not Quite Black & White Collection by Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish is now available for purchase. Each full-size 15mL bottle retails for $10 or in mini-size 8mL for $6. You can also purchase the full-size set for $45 or in mini-size for $27.
