The Digit-al Dozen Does Black Out: Day 1

Hiya guys! Whoa... what's this?! I'm not only doing nail art, but I am participating in The Digit-al Dozen once again. It's been a really long time since I have been able to do any nail art due to my ongoing health issues. To be honest, there was a point where I thought I was going to have to give up nail blogging entirely. Thankfully though I'm still here and I'm on the mend both mentally and psychically. Though my nail art will lean on the simple side, I'm just happy to be participating at all. So here's my Day 1 look for this months theme 'Black Out'.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Black Out: Day 1

So what do you guys think about this look? There is just always something about a lace stamping that makes me SO excited. I think about 90% of all the stamping manis I have done involve lace somehow. I don't know if that's the kink in me trying to come out or what. Seriously though, lace nails are always ace and well... lace anywhere else is just itchy city central haha.

The main thing needed for this design (besides the obvious lace stamping plate) is a sheer black polish. You can actually create your own sheer black - any color really - by putting a few drops of a cream polish into a clear polish bottle. Personally I love using Sally Hansen's Invisible clear polish to create mine. It has a really good consistency and honestly.... it's only a $1 haha.

To create the sheer stamping polish I used about 5-7 drops of my black cream of choice Black Out from Rica Polish. This is a really opaque cream (pretty much a one coater) so I didn't want to add too many drops into the clear polish. It's always best to start off with a 2-5 drops and then test out the opacity.

Here's everything I used to create this look:

Although I didn't create a video tutorial for this manicure as of posting this, I do intend to try and do one this coming week. I didn't want to put too much pressure on myself this week and do videos along with the art all at once. But I can't deny that I miss doing videos, so even if it's after the fact I still want to post them up. Head on over to my channel and subscribe if you haven't already and you can be alerted when the video goes up: https://www.youtube.com/user/aquam3lon.
