Contrary Polish - Sueded Summer Collection

Hiya guys! I'm back with another post delayed due to the camera fiasco, sigh. I'm almost all caught up though, literally can see the light out of polish mountain haha.  Today I'm sharing swatches for the gorgeous Sueded Summer Collection from Contrary Polish, which consists of six rich matte shades. A special thanks and a million hugs to Carrie for being so very patient while I reswatched this collection. With that said, these polishes are to die-for so get those drool buckets ready. But first let me go ahead and give you a fair warning, this is a very photo heavy post as I'll be showing each shade in both matte and glossy finishes. Let's get started!

The Sueded Summer Collection from Contrary Polish is now available for purchase. Each full-size bottle retails for $10 or the mini-size for $5. The complete full-size collection can be purchased for $54 or in mini-size for $27.

Contrary Polish - Dragonfly
Contrary Polish - Dragonfly

Dragonfly can be described as a matte vivid blue with bright turquoise shimmer. Starting off this review with my favorite in the collection and it's an absolute stunner. It's such a vivid blue whilst still having that hint of vamp. Really the perfect shade to go year round with. Plus it's one of those tones that really mesh well with any skin-tone.

The formula has a really opaque and smooth application. It's not quite enough to be a one coater, but it does need very minimal layering for a full finish. Consistency wise it's one of the most balanced in the collection, not too thin or too thick. Despite it's rich color tone I did not experience any staining on removal. Shown in two coats and no topcoat.

Contrary Polish - Hummingbird
Contrary Polish - Hummingbird

Hummingbird can be described as a matte vivid purple with copper shimmer. Are you drooling? Because I am, haha. I think this was one of the shades that pulled me in the most during the swatch wheel reveal. It's the perfect balance of sexy, vampy, and daring. Plus it's so different and unique to a lot of the summer purples we've been seeing around. Major must-have vibes all around.

The formula has a really nice opacity, not too sheer of an application. The consistency leans a little on the thin side, but it's not runny and can be managed easily. Despite the intensity of the color, I experienced no staining on removal. Shown in two coats and no topcoat.

Contrary Polish - Dahlia
Contrary Polish - Dahlia

Dahlia can be described as a matte vivid red with color-shifting shimmer, bright blue to bright pink. And speaking of sexy shades... BOOM here comes this beauty to blow our minds away.

The formula has a really opaque application, by far the most of this whole collection. It's not quite enough to get away with just one coat though, especially if you use a light hand like me. It has a really nicely balanced consistency as well. With this shade I did experience some minimal staining on removal to my cuticles, but not my nail bed. Shown in two coats and no topcoat.

Contrary Polish - Wild Grass
Contrary Polish - Wild Grass

Wild Grass can be described as a matte greyed olive green with gold shimmer.

The formula has a sheer application that builds up to a good opacity easily. I used a bit of a light hand during swatching so I do feel you can get away with less coats than what I did. Consistency wise it's a total dream boat and feels very balanced. Shown in two to three coats and no topcoat.

Contrary Polish - Sandstone
Contrary Polish - Sandstone

Sandstone can be described as a matte peachy nude with color-shifting shimmer, turquoise to pink. This right here is the one that had me completely shook! I mean on first glance I was on the fence about whether or not it would suit my skin-tone. And then I swatched it... after that it was true love haha. It's such a gorgeous shade (especially in it's natural matte state), definitely a must-have in my book.

The formula has a very smooth, but sheer application that evens out really well. I was actually quite surprised with how quickly it built-up for full coverage considering the lightness of the hue. The consistency has a perfect balance, not too thick or too thin. Shown in three coats and no topcoat.

Contrary Polish - Mud Pie
Contrary Polish - Mud Pie

Mud Pie can be described as a matte milk chocolatey nude with bright green shimmer. Every time I look at this shade it reminds me of chocolate and I totally get the munchies. It's one of those hues I simply do not have enough of in my collection, very understated. Plus it's very office appropriate, which is always nice since I do have a desk job during the day.

The formula has a sheer application that builds-up evenly on the nail. It has a thin consistency that leans a bit on the runny side, but it's definitely manageable. That said, it does have amazing coverage. Shown in three coats and no topcoat.

Overall I have to say these did not fall short of gorgeous! I fell in love from the initial photos before Polish Con and wearing them was even more than I hoped. Definite must-haves go to Dragonfly and Sandstone. Of course I cannot forget to mention, I'm loving the way they transform entirely after a glossy topcoat! Gotta give love to a collection that is so versatile. That said, I think I'm a matte girl. How about you, which version of these shades do you lean more to?

To recap, the Sueded Summer Collection from Contrary Polish is now available for purchase. Each full-size bottle retails for $10 or the mini-size for $5. The complete full-size collection can be purchased for $54 or in mini-size for $27.
