Hiya guys! I'm really excited for this weekend, because it's my 30th birthday! It's probably weird to be happy about getting older, but rest assured it's all about the presents haha. But that said, it's not all about me this weekend... it's also time for the Indie Shop Event. I wish I was going, but sadly it's in San Francisco and anxiety doesn't allow me to travel that far. Now as I mentioned earlier in the week, Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish has a new collection debuting for the event to go along with the LE shades I reviewed. If you haven't seen those yet, click on over to this post and check it out. For today I'm sharing swatches for the Late Summer Collection by Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish, which consists of four bright shimmer and cream shades. Without further ado, let's just jump into the swatches!
Cucumber Jalapeño Martini can be described as a bright ectoplasm green with gold shimmer. I'll completely admit I was not expecting to love this one, but it by far ended up being my favorite! It's so unbelievably bright without the need for a white base. I should have tested it to see if it glows under black-light... I'll have to check and get back to you on that. The shimmer is very subtle on the nail, but I think it ends up working nicely that way.
The formula has a sheer application, but builds-up easily for full coverage. Some nails I felt needed an extra coat to cover my nail line, but that's because on some it's much more prominent. The consistency leans on the thick side, but it's manageable and doesn't clump. Shown in two to three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Gin & Carrot Juice can be described as a bright almost-neon orange creme.
The formula has a good opacity though it does need some layering for full coverage. It self levels very well and has such a smooth creamy finish. Nice balanced consistency, not too thick or too thin. It dries to a semi-matte finish on its own. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Prickly Pear Margarita can be described as a vibrant medium pink holo shimmer with a turquoise flash.
The formula has a fantastic amount of opacity and such a smooth application. Consistency wise it tends to lean on the thin side, but it's perfectly manageable. It has so much shimmer, but it's very easy to remove. The shade ends up drying to a super high shine finish on its own. Shown here in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Grape Crush can be described as a warm sparkly grape purple to light purple thermal with silver holo micro glitters, blue & purple shimmer, and a purple flash. I'm, of course, really excited from the word go. For me, thermals are super must-haves for the summer. And after seeing the thermal Kristen created for the Indie Shop I couldn't wait to see how this one would perform in comparison.
The formula has a great amount of opacity, but does lean on sheer and needs build-up. It self-levels nice and ends up having full-coverage. Consistency wise it's perfectly balanced, not too thick or too thin. Unfortunately I could not get it to transition completely for me. In the macro you can see the tip of the nail a little darker, which is the cold transition color. I'm pretty sure the heat must-have affected it during shipping. Luckily all bottles in shop have been tested by the maker and do transition as intended. Shown here in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
As for must-have picks I have to give it up to Cucumber Jalapeño Martini and Prickly Pear Margarita. Not only are these color stunning, they are really far our from my normal favorite picks which makes them all the better. But those are my favorites, now tell me which ones are yours?
