Moon Flower Polish - One More Light Collection

Hiya guys! I've been having tons of health issues lately, that's no secret around here. So this is the week I've been waiting for months to finally come. I have multiple doctor appointments, which I'm hoping will result in answers and less pain. Fingers crossed. Heck, cross your eyes for me too. Well maybe hold off on that one until the post is over, haha. Today I'm sharing swatches for the One More Light Collection by Moonflower Polish, which is a collaboration with fellow nail blogger Jenalyn from Two Girls One Blush. This collection is inspired by the songs of Linkin Park and mental health struggles that both maker and blogger share. Throughout the review I'll be sharing personal notes from these two wonderful ladies with some insight on what these colors mean to them. Now without further ado, let's get to the swatches!

Moon Flower Polish - One More Light Collection

The One More Light Collection by Moonflower Polish will be available for purchase Friday, January 5th through the end of the month. Each full-size shade will retail for $10 or the entire collection can be purchased for $48. For this collection, 20% of the proceeds will be donated to the National Suicide Hotline and Linkin Park's One More Light fund.

Moon Flower Polish - A Million Thoughts
Moon Flower Polish - A Million Thoughts

A Million Thoughts can be described as a greenish teal base with red-green-copper shimmer. Isn't this such a unique color and shimmer combination?! the colors mesh so well against each other to bring out that eye-catching sleekness that I love in a jelly. I have never seen anything quite like this, but I am living for it. It does have a beautiful subtle shift into teal that I wish I could have captured. I'm normally hesitant on greens against my skin-tone, but this one pulls it off perfectly without clashing.

From Nadia: This color represents my personal struggles with anxiety. Depression comes and goes but anxiety is always there for me. It often feels like I have a million thoughts in my head, all at the same time, a million worries and what ifs. Teal is my favorite color and very representative of me, it's the color of the ocean at my Caribbean home (I'm from Puerto Rico originally), it's the color I had on my hair for a while, it's everything to me, it keeps me grounded.

The formula has a sheer jelly-like application that builds-up easily for full coverage. The consistency leans a little on the thin side, but it's manageable and doesn't run. I experienced no staining on removal to my cuticles or nail beds. It dries down to a smooth high-shine finish on its own and definitely has that 'squishy' look. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Moon Flower Polish - Do You Love Me
Moon Flower Polish - Do You Love Me

Do You Love Me can be described as a dusty blue with gray microflakes and pink-red-gold shimmer. I do think this leans more towards a purple than a blue, though it really depends on the lighting. I feel like I'm going to be saying this quite a lot, but it's the shimmer that really makes this pop. I mean shimmah all the things, eh? Haha. The tones in the base mesh really well together - very cohesive - to give it a gorgeous depth.

Inspired by Jenalyn's long time boyfriend, specifically an old shirt of his that she loves. It's calming and helps to center her. He is her rock and main source of support. She'll like to ask him if he still loves her in order to calm the chaos in her brain even though she knows she's his world.

The formula has a sheer jelly-like application much like the previous shade. Consistency wise it was balanced, not too thick or too thin. Easy to work with and to layer for coverage. It dries down to a smooth high-shine finish on its own. And despite it's rich color, I experienced no staining on removal to my cuticles or nail beds. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Moon Flower Polish - Heart and Soul
Moon Flower Polish - Heart and Soul

Heart and Soul can be described as a wine jelly base with holo, purple-blue iridescent glitters, and purple-blue shimmers. And here we have one of my favorites from this collection! The color itself is right up my alley and the shimmer.... well... you guys know I am like the shimmah monster. Basically think cookie monster, but instead with shimmer polish and you have me. The color will be fantastic to wear during the spring and summer months with the shimmer coming to life under direct sunlight. And the hue compliments my skin-tone so well, it's one of my favorite colors to wear.

From Nadia: This color represent my kids, they are the reason I'm still alive today, they reason I get up in the morning and fight. My son is 5 and his favorite color is red, my daughter is 10 and her favorite color is purple.

The formula has a pretty opaque application, much more than I expected from a jelly. It builds-up evenly throughout the nail and full coverage is easily accomplished.  The flakies feel a little on the scarce side, but I don't mind it as it serves to not overwhelm the base. Nice balanced consistency with this shade as well. It dries down to a minimal gritty finish that smooths out after topcoat. And again, no staining from this beauty either. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Moon Flower Polish - One More Light
Moon Flower Polish - One More Light

One More Light can be described as a dusty purple holo with red to green color shifting shimmer. Here we have.... another favorite, haha. I feel like I can hear you guys saying, "they can't all be your favorite Rose!". I'm a woman with a broad range of likes, sue me. Like with the previous shade, it just hits all the right check-marks to make me fall in love. Good color against my skin-tone, check. Lots of shimmer, check. Incredible depth and richness, check check. Say no more, I'll wait here while you add it to your cart.

Inspired by the Linkin Park of the same name, this song is what has kept me alive on my worst days. The chorus goes "Who cares if one more light goes out? In a sky of a million stars, it flickers, flickers. Who cares when someone's time runs out? If a moment is all we are. We're quicker, quicker. Who cares if one more light goes out? Well I do" It reminds me that people do care about me, and I care about them. It shows the purpose of the collection, not just to raise awareness but to let others who are also suffering that we are here, there are lots of us, and we care.

The formula has a sheer application that builds-up quickly for full coverage. Very well balanced and smooth as butter throughout layering. Again we have scarce flakies mixed in that add a nice touch against the shimmer. It dries down to a smooth high-shine finish much like the others in this collection. If there is one thing I love above all else it's consistent formulas throughout a collection and so far so good. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Moon Flower Polish - Shadow of the Day
Moon Flower Polish - Shadow of the Day

Shadow of the Day can be described as a bluish gray base with pink-red-gold shimmer and scattered holo. Closing out this review with another one of my favorite shades from this collection! I promise it's the last time I'll say that... get it? Because we're at the end of the review... I'm in quite a mood today if you can't tell by my lame attempts at being funny, haha. What's not a joke is that this is my pick as must-have for this collection. This shade is perfection in every regard and photos don't do the contrasting shimmer any justice. If you can only pick one do yourself a favor and let this one be it.

Inspired by the song of the same name as well as a picture Jenalyn took. When we are struggling, the world feels all gray and heavy, it feels like there are no more options but one.

The formula has a sheer application that builds-up really great for full coverage. Very smooth and nice even layers throughout. Consistency wise it's well balanced, not too thick or too thin. There are minimal brush strokes during the application, but they blend out as it dries down. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Overall this is a gorgeous collection that has left quite the first impression on me. I mean first off it was an incredible honor to be chosen as a swatcher for such a personal collection. As you guys know I have been struggling a lot with my mental state, so it's a collection that hits close to home. I love how complex each one of the colors are, which is a perfect reflection on our mental health. Polish created from the soul and for a good cause is the best kind of polish there is.

To recap, the One More Light Collection by Moonflower Polish will be available for purchase Friday, January 5th through the end of the month. Each full-size shade will retail for $10 or the entire collection can be purchased for $48.
