Hiya guys! Another day in the New Year and another polish to enable you with. It's what I'm here for, we are in this together. Haha. Before I get nails deep in polish though I wanted to mention that I'll be posting a candid personal post later tonight. It's no secret that I have been out of the loop the past few months. And although I know I don't owe anyone an apology for being sick, it doesn't feel right holding so much back. I won't get too much into it now, but the long detailed post will be up tonight if you're interested. Now as I mentioned yesterday, it's that time of the month where we get to indulge in the madness that is Polish Pickup. Today I'm sharing swatches for Supermoon Lacquer January contribution to the Polish Pickup Collaboration. And by the power of the moon, I demand that you keep reading... Yes, that's a hint about the polish and if you didn't get the reference then I';ll just go sit in a corner. To the polish!
Moon Crystal Power by Supermoon Lacquer will be available for purchase through the Polish Pickup Shop January 5th at 11AM EST through January 8th. This full-size shade will retail for $12 each.
If you're not familiar with the concept, the Polish Pickup offers a fun, interactive experience that allows you to submit theme ideas, vote for your favorite theme, and selectively purchase your favorite polishes every month. As I mentioned before, the theme that was voted for January is Crystals & Gemstones.
'Moon Crystal Power' is inspired by the Maboroshi no Ginzuishou (or 'Illusionary Silver Crystal') from the manga/anime, Sailor Moon. It is named after the command used by Sailor Moon when needing to draw upon the crystal's power in order to transform from her civilian form to her senshi form, to heal others, and/or to attack enemies.
Supermoon Lacquer - Moon Crystal Power
Moon Crystal Power can be described as a pale pink/purple holographic base with blue, gold, purple, and red shimmer, red-to-gold and purple-to-red color shifting shimmer flakies, rainbow pearl flakies, holographic silver flakies, iridescent blue/purple micro-glitter, and holographic gold, pink, and silver micro-glitter. I always love Mardi's description of polishes because she is so thorough and it shows in the end result of the polish.
The formula has a smooth opaque application that feels almost creamy. Barely needs that second coat. Consistency wise it's well balanced, not too thick or too thin. In natural lighting you can see the holographic flare, but it's subtle against the base. It dries down to a minimal gritty finish that smooths out perfectly after topcoat. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
