Hiya guys! I'm back for a new week in the polish realm and thank goodness I am finally feeling better. It's not a huge improvement, but I'll take what I can get at this point. If nothing else I have great timing because I am back just in time for Polish Pickup. This month the theme is 90s Pop Culture and my little heart could just explode with all the references to my childhood. Yeah my wallet is going to be straight up shredded this month, haha. I'm not going down alone though, so here's my daily enabling. For today I'm sharing swatches for Wannabe by Smokey Mountain Lacquers, which is the May contribution to the Polish Pickup Collaboration. Let's go ahead and get right into the swatches!

Wannabe by Smokey Mountain Lacquers will be available for purchase through the Polish Pickup Shop Friday, May 4th at 11AM EST through May 7th. The full-size 15mL shade will retail for $11 each and there is a cap this month at 150 bottles.

If you're not familiar with the concept, the Polish Pickup offers a fun, interactive experience that allows you to submit theme ideas, vote for your favorite theme, and selectively purchase your favorite polishes every month. As I mentioned before, the theme that was voted for May is
90s Pop Culture. This month Kim found her inspiration from the best girl band of all time, the Spice Girls! Specifically the pants worn by Sporty Spice during the 1997 MTV Music Awards in Europe.

Smokey Mountain Lacquers - Wannabe

Wannabe can be described as a cornflower blue holo finish with added blue shimmer. Spice Girls was a huge part of my pre-teen years.... and I call dibs on being Baby Spice. I said dibs, so I don't care. Fight me. Oh my gosh, that was literally me fighting my friends - oh sweet memories! I love everything about this color, it fits the theme whilst also fitting perfectly into our now. Especially in regards to season, but I do know what some of you may be thinking. Yes, it's a simple straight-forward color and finish. But it's absolutely flawless in every regard and that for me is that raises the bar tenfold. If you've never tried this brand before, this will be the one that gets you hooked!

The formula has a really opaque application and it is almost a one coater. As always, I opted for the second coat for a bit more shimmer/holo in the finish. Consistency wise it's well balanced, not too thick or too thin. Smooth as butter and extremely easy to work with throughout. It dries down to a beautiful smooth and high-shine finish on its own. Also please note I experienced no staining on removal to either my nail-beds or cuticles. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
