Zoya Flair Fall 2015 Swatches & Review

Hiya guys! Today I'll be sharing the other half of the new fall collection from Zoya  titled 'Flair'. Perfect title as this half of the collection is all about the metallic finish. Usually with me metallic finishes are either hit or miss, so let's see how these stack up. Check out my post from yesterday to see the cremes from the Focus half of the collection.

Zoya Flair Fall 2015 Swatches & Review

The Flair collection by Zoya is already available for purchase. The full set of six can be purchased for $54 or you can grab any individual color for $9.

Zoya -Tris
Zoya -Tris

Tris can be described as a blackened, brushed nickel liquid metal. I wanted to like this one so much from the get-go. It's gray-toned and you guys know how much I always say there aren't enough beautiful grays out there. But the brush strokes in this one were a little too strong for my tastes. Formula was a bit on the thin side so I had to be very cautious not to overload my brush. Shown here using two coats and a glossy topcoat.

Zoya - Cinnamon

Cinnamon can be described a classic bronze liquid metal, originally designed for Zang Toi NYFW F/W15. The gold-ish undertones are really beautiful and add so much depth to this polish. It almost doesn't feel as metallic as some of the others at first glance. The formula and consistency are well balanced in this one, not being too thick or thin. Smooth easy layers and minimal brush strokes are visible after topcoat. Shown here using three coats and a glossy topcoat.

Zoya - Aggie
Zoya - Aggie

Aggie can be described as a gold holo-flip, liquid metal with bronze micro glitter. I think this was one of the ones I was most anticipating from the initial description in the press release. The color shift is subtle and beautiful, doesn't it make you think of leaves changing color? Very appropriate for the fall. The formula and consistency were good throughout, not too thin or to thick. You definitely could get away with two coats and have an opaque finish. I added a third for some cleaner brush strokes in the finish. Shown here using three coats and a glossy topcoat.

Zoya - Ember
Zoya - Ember

Ember can be described as a deep, fiery red liquid metal with enough blue to be wearable for all skin tones. The metallic is definitely the least visible here making for extremely subtle brush strokes. And while I do love the color, it feels very dupe-worthy to me (Chelsea or Kamilah, anyone?). Fantastic formula in this one, probably one of the better ones in the collection. Smooth throughout and extremely opaque in a single coat. Shown here using two coats and a glossy topcoat.

Zoya - Giada
Zoya - Giada

Giada can be described as a purple liquid metal with a hint of fuchsia pearl. While I adore the color, I cannot call this a must have because of the formula. It felt entirely too 'runny' and thin throughout. You can very easily flood your cuticles if the brush is overloaded. Shown here using two coats and a glossy topcoat.

Zoya - Estelle
Zoya - Estelle

Estelle can be described as a blue on blue liquid metal with a blackened base. I don't think I need to say it, but this one is a must-have without a doubt. I don't think it's possible for Zoya to ever get a blue polish wrong! Great easy formula as some of the others in this collection. Very opaque as well, I almost found it to be a one coater. Yet despite the heavy pigmentation it did not stain! It didn't even have that sort of stronger smell we've come to expect from blue/purple tones. Shown here using two coats and a glossy topcoat.

Overall I'm really surprised at how much I really love this collection. Normally I tend to instantly turn the other cheek when it comes to metallic polishes. There is definitely something very eye-catching and beautiful about the Flair collection from Zoya. I love the versatility with these as well! Not only do they look great on their own, but they can be gorgeous bases for nail art too. But I know these aren't for everyone, it's either you love or hate them.

So guys, Focus or Flair? Let me know down in the comments!

Each one of the shades shown here retails for $9 and will be available both on the Zoya website and in stores.

  1. Unfortunately I don't really like the finish on these, and I must admit I don't find the shades all that original either. Bummer, because Zoya has done some wonderful Fall sets in the past!

    1. I don't blame you. Usually I am right up there on the 'no way, not happening' train with you. Something about these colors though totally got me hooked.

  3. Wow, I really like these colors! The brush strokes don't really bother me, because I rarely wear polish without any nail art over top of it. I'll definitely have to pick some of these up!

  6. I really love Estelle and Ember! I'm swatching these tonight, I think. I'm not looking forward to brushstrokes, but most of them don't seem too bad.

  9. Cinnamon and Giada are colours that really call my name, although I'd rather have them in a shimmery finish rather than metallic!

  14. I actually like the collection a lot better that the Focus collection. And that's saying a lot because I don't usually like metallics!
