Hiya guys! Before I even get into the lovely polishes, let me just say... I miss posting daily. I'm hoping things will ease up for me health wise, but my sciatica has flared up once again. Sigh. If anyone knows where I can trade this clunker of a body for a new model let me know. Ha. Putting me in a mani cave bubble also seems like a good option.
But anyway for today I'm sharing swatches for the creams in the Urban Grunge Collection by Zoya. These came out months ago, but I am just getting around to swatching them. For shame! Trust me it's been killing me not being able to do these. Be sure to swing in a few days as I'll be posting the other half of the collection, which consists of gorgeous metallic holo shades. Now let's get to the swatches!
August can be described as a full coverage gray like a fine, expensive leather with a mid-ranged, balanced tone. I'm always extremely happy when I see a gray shade any collection, it's one of my all-time favorite colors. I also feel like this might actually be one of my first grays creams from Zoya, which makes me double excited to wear it.
The formula has a bit of unevenness to the application and needs some layering for a smooth finish. Consistency wise it leans a little on the thick side, but it's manageable enough for coverage. Because of the patchiness I couldn't get away using it as a one coater as advertised. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Zoya - Mallory
The formula has a very opaque application, but it's not quite a one coater as I had some patchy areas. Although I did wear a base coat, I experienced staining on removal both on my cuticles and nail bed. I would advise doubling up on the base coat, but even then it might stain through. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Zoya - Tara
The formula was one of the better and more opaque in this collection. It dries to a high-shine and smooth finish on its own. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Zoya - Courtney
Courtney can be described as a deep red beet root shade.
The formula had great opacity, but it did tend to lean on being a little sheer. Again with this shade I didn't feel I could get away with just one coat and have full coverage. It does have a nice consistency, very smooth and easy to work with. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Zoya - Wyatt
Wyatt can be described as a true racing green with a deep pigment. Isn't this gorgeous? I'm not even one to normally lean towards green shades, but this one is stunning. I can imagine using this one quite a bit outside of the fall season. It's also a really unique shade, definitely don't have anything quite this hue in my entire collection.
The formula had a really nice build-up and even coverage on the nail. The consistency was very balanced with this shade, not too thick or to thin. Despite it's rich color I experienced no staining on removal to my cuticles or nail bed. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Zoya - Noah
The formula was sheer and a had some patchiness on the initial application. Consistency wise it leans on the thick side and I felt as though next time I might need to add some thinner for easier layering. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
To recap, the Urban Grunge Collection by Zoya is still available for purchase online. Each full-size bottle retails for $10 or you can grab the entire cream half of the collection for $60.
