Indie Review - Fair Maiden Polish

Hi guys! Man I am certainly exhausted to say the very least. It's been such a long day at work after having a week off and all I want to do is take a long nap. I predicated I might end up feeling this way so I put a sticky note in my planner that says 'don't be lazy' haha. I know myself pretty well there. One of the main things keeping me awake right now is playing with these gorgeous polishes. There is a fairly new indie making huge waves right now and that is Fair Maiden Polish. But don't be fooled, just because these ladies are new doesn't mean they aren't coming out ready to rock your nails. To say that I'm completely blown away is the understatement of the century. Let's take a closer look here.

Fair Maiden Polish

Today I'll be sharing five polishes from the Be Your Own Heroine Collection by Fair Maiden Polish. Be sure to stick around until the end of the post for a special coupon code for my readers!

Please note that I have included three different photos for each of the shades. The first photos have been taken in a lightbox and are color accurate. The angled photos you'll also encounter here have been aligned into indirect lighting to show the shimmer and holographic effects you might not otherwise see in a lightbox.  And finally, I also have macros to show you as well. Enjoy.

Fairest of them All is a beautiful warm nude holographic polish. Absolutely love the softness and elegance of this shade. It's very work/office friendly, but also playful for a date night. The holographic shimmer is very subtle, you can see the closer focus on it below. Formula and consistency were excellent, very smooth application. I thought this nude would take a few layers, but surprisingly I used two thin coats for an opaque finish.

Fairy Godmother is an intense linear holographic topcoat. Do you believe in magic? Well you should because this right here is magic in a bottle. You can add this topcoat over any color of your choosing and bam you have yourself a holo finish. Pretty nifty, right? Not only that but this can also be used as a full coverage polish with a few layers. How freaking awesome is that?! For these swatches, I used four thin coats over a clear base coat. The formula is perfect for layering and letting the opaqueness build without clumping.

Change Your Fate is a deep teal with a hint of golden shimmer. The effect of the shimmer in this polish causes it to have almost a violet reflection. I think you guys will agree, the photo below of it at an angle is totally drool-worthy. One of my favorite colored shades here by far. Almost an identical formula to Fairest of them All. Very smooth application. Swatched here using just two thin coats and sealed with a topcoat.

Evil Stepsister is a deep burgundy polish with a golden shimmer. It's not possible for something this beautiful to be evil, haha. If you're still looking for the perfect shade for the Fall, look no further than this. I actually ended up wearing this to work and it was like every eye in the room was drawn to my nails with the slightest of hand movements. Can't say I blame them, it's a very luxurious shade. Another great score for formula and consistency, with no issues and most importantly no staining. I know that's a big fear when wearing colors in the red family, but rest assured this beauty will be pure love for your nails. Swatched here using two thin coats and a glossy topcoat.

Once Upon a Dream is a light violet pink creme with a golden shimmer. I'm not usually a fan of pink, but the golden shimmer really sparks this one up for me. However the shimmer is very subtle, just take a look at the macro. Formula is, once again, right on point and gave me no troubles. Very opaque, but not enough to be a one coater. For these swatches, I used two thin coats and sealed it off with a glossy topcoat.

Overall I'm thoroughly impressed and in awe with the launch collection from Fair Maiden Polish. From what I've seen from other bloggers, I'm not alone in this sentiment either. Everything from the shades to the finishes to the fantastic formula are what indie dreams are made of. Great overall consistencies as well, not too thick nor too thin in any case. If I have to pick just one as a must-have I would definitely go for the holographic topcoat, Fairy Godmother. But honestly, this is one of those rare times where I don't have anything to even nitpick so choosing any won't be disappointing.

The polishes you see here retail for $9.00 each. If you haven't purchased anything from them yet, well you're in luck. Fair Maiden Polish has generously provided you guys a coupon code.  Use code MM20 at checkout to receive 20% off your order from now until Nov 30th. Happy shopping!
