Happy hump day! My favorite day of the week because it means it's almost time for the weekend. Kind of like the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm in full on flu-mode or coming close to it, unfortunately. Not to worry, I'm already drinking some meds. I need to be healthy for Valentines weekend, because I know my hubs has some plans for us. Or at least I'm hoping he does. Either way, it's time to start planning the perfect mani! Giving me a little help are the beautiful polishes from the Valentines Trio by MTL Creations. I've been so anxious to show you these so let's not wait any longer.
The Valentine's Trio by MTL Creations is available for purchase individually and as a set. Each full size retails for under $6.00 and the set of three is only $14.68. Individually these are available as minis as well.
Sweet Emotions
Sweet Emotions is a a clear glitter-topper packed with pink, purple and holo glitters. It really blends well with an assortment of color bases, so you can't go wrong with whatever you end up picking. This is meant to be a light topper, so layering for full-coverage will not work. The formula and consistency were great and did not give me any trouble layering. Each layer applies smoothly with plenty of glitters and no need for dabbing. For these swatches, I paired it over a nude base using two thin layers and sealed it with a top coat.
The Nights Affair
The Nights Affair is a deep purple jelly polish. In case you missed the post, I actually end up stamping over this perfect purple earlier in the week. While it's not a super unique shade, it's incredibly gorgeous and would be great for making a jelly sandwich. The formula and consistency were easy to work with, but applied sheer in the first few layers. In the first two coats you'll also notice some unevenness, but by the third layer it balances out for an opaque finish. For these swatches, I used three thin coats and sealed with a glossy top coat.
Cupid's Crush
Cupid's Crush is a cherry red jelly polish. Perfect shade for the day of love. Especially for those whom might not like the classic deeper shade of red. I'll be showing you guys some more stamping over this one later today. It also happens to looks stunning with a matte top coat. Cupid's Crush is identical in consistency and formula to The Nights Affair. Sheer in the first two coats, but will start becoming opaque by the third layer for a nice finish. For these swatches, I used three thin coats and sealed it with a glossy top coat. Although it requires a bit of layering for opaqueness, the dry time is not increased tremendously.
Overall I'm loving the polishes from this trio outside of just for Valentines Day. The shades aren't entirely unique, but are still beautiful nonetheless. Of course, if you were like me and didn't have similar ones in your collection then these will a fantastic addition. I'm always keeping an eye out for the perfect base for nail art and so the two jelly polishes are my pick for must-haves. I love them for stamping or just nail art in general. Not to mention I'm looking forward to creating some heavenly jelly sandwiches with them.
Tell me guys, which one was your favorite? Are you a fan of jelly polishes?
As I mentioned before, the Valentine's Trio by MTL Creations is available for purchase individually and as a set. Each full size retails for under $6.00 and the set of three is only $14.68.
