Hiya guys! Last month I told you guys how I was starting a segment for the season centered around the Starlight Collection from OPI. Unfortunately, I then ended up getting sick and well long story short I ain't do nada. *Sigh* But now I am back and even though I am not feeling fantastic, I am determined to do a lot of nail art during the month of December. So to kick the month off I am continuing my short segment of quick and easy manis for the holidays! Now before we get started, I'd like to note that the press samples here were received as part of the campaign with Preen.Me and OPI for being part of the Preen.Me VIP program. Let's get to the nail art!
What do you think? I am happy with the way it turned out, especially because I felt like I haven't done stripes in a really long time. It's simple, but in its simplicity lies a pretty cute mani!
I feel like stripes are one of those classic, staple kind of nail designs. What I mean is that stripes can look great season-round with any color, there is no going wrong with them. They key, however, is neatness just like it is for most of our classic manis (i.e. dotticures). Because unlike in a lot of our freehand work, the little imperfections stand out because the design itself is so simple. Thank goodness for the evolution of our nail community because we have vinyls, tapes, and so many things to create things with ease now.
For this mani I started with a base using Give Me Space from OPI. Then I placed thick straight nail vinyls from GlamMyMani, alternatively you can use thin vinyls or striping tape. Then I used By The Light of The Moon from OPI and painted two coats over the vinyls then quickly remove them. Now I won't lie, it wasn't as neat as it looks here. My next step was to use a thin paint brush and clean up the lines. Topcoat ends up smoothing everything out and it's as if they were perfect from the get-go!
On my accent nail I painted my nail using Let Your Love Shine from OPI and then proceeded to do my stripes in the same way I mentioned before. I sealed my design off with a glossy topcoat and then with a little nail glue I stuck on a nail charm I purchased from eBay.
Ta-da! Quick, simple, and most importantly it's eye-catching!
If you'd like to see a YouTube video on how to accomplish this look let me know down in the comments. I'm hoping to have another look later this week. After all I do have a few weeks of catching up and a lot of manis I'd like to share for the holidays! Let me know if you have any suggestions on what you'd like to see as well.
Thanks for reading guys!
