Hiya guys! Hope you all are having a better day than I am. My little princess Sophia (fur-baby) kept me up until 4 a.m. leaving me only two hours to sleep before work. This was after having spent nearly three hours doing a watermarble. I didn't even get to eat my bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios guys *que the worlds smallest violin*. At least I managed to get some kind of marble done and I may still be high off the acetone when I say this... but I actually think I like it!
Needless to say I always forget just how difficult a red and white watermarbles are until this time of year. Usually after Valentine's Day I end up never wanting to attempt this combination again... until the end of the year when Christmas approaches. Next year someone please remind me of this night, haha.
I feel like I have let myself get rusty again when it comes to watermarbles. Okay, that's an understatement considering how many re-dos I had in my three hours of 'fun'. One thing I will say is liquid latex is a gift from the heavens when it comes to marbles. I had barely any clean-up, which gave me time to do more attempts.
The polishes I was using though ate up that extra time by bleeding and creating some funky colors instead of staying red and white. This was where most of the fail came into place. Towards the end of the night I gave up trying to find a red and white that would work well together. Instead I realized that I had to create less lines in the marble. Luckily I was still able to create a peppermint swirl kind of affect that goes well with the candy cane theme!
Unfortunately no video. Not even close. I did try though! Let's just say good ol' butterfingers over here almost knocked both the water and camera onto the three lamps on the desk. I didn't think I could pull off an electro-look so I decided it was best to forget the video, haha.
Candy cane watermarbles are at this point officially a holiday mani tradition with my bestie Cheyenne from CDBNails. This ended up being the perfect time for it as well since the next prompt for the 12 Days of Christmas was Candy Canes! Two birds, one stone! One very messy red-and-white-watermarble-fail stone.

Ooo lovely marble!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteAww, I think these look great! :D
ReplyDeleteThese are cute. To cut down on all the retries, try a white base and then marbling a red and a clear marbling polish (like Top Shelf Lacquer's Bar Mix).
ReplyDeleteWow! Those look amazing!
ReplyDeleteThese are great!
ReplyDeleteI like these too! I haven't tried a watermarble in forever, I'd hate to try now lol.

ReplyDeleteWatermarbling is a b**** IMO, I never understand how the peeps on YouTube make it look so easy, I find it so difficult! I think this mani you ended up with is absolutely beautiful and you're being way too hard on yourself :P
