Hiya guys! I'm super excited about the polish because it's actually a first in my collection. Today I'm sharing swatches for the gorgeous thermal Changeling by Contrary Polish. Now you're probably wondering how a thermal is a first for me... well guys brace yourselves... this is a tri-thermal! Yes, this thermal has three states of transition instead of the normal two. Without further ado, let's get to the swatches!
Changeling by Contrary Polish is one of two tri-thermal polishes available now for pre-order through February 14th. Each full-size shade retails for $11 each or $18 for both. Changeling can be described as a scattered holographic thermal shifting from a light grey to a rich teal green. As a tri-thermal it has more than just the simple warm to cold transition! This shade transitions from a light grey when warm to a medium green-leaning grey at room temp to a vivid teal green when cold.
The formula has a very sheer jelly-like application, but builds up nicely on the nail. It has fantastic consistency, not too thick or too thin. It dries to a satin-matte finish on its own. If you'd like to see how it looks left without topcoat, then I suggest seeing the gorgeous swatches by Lisa at Cosmetic Sanctuary. Shown here is three coats and a glossy topcoat.
For photography purposes I triggered all of the transitions using hot and ice water. I had no issues with any of the colors shifting throughout swatching. Just the slightest temperature change is more than enough to cause the transition fun! Personally the tri-thermal state is by far my favorite. I love how it captures all three shades in one, I wish it could linger in this state indefinitely.
As I mentioned briefly in the introduction, there is another thermal also available along with this one called Mercurial. The difference between the two isn't noticeable until the final cold transition. Mercurial ends up shifting into an equally beautiful icy blue instead of a teal.

Transition from Warm to Room Temp
