Penny Bloom Nail Polish - Summer Daze Collection

Hiya guys! Today I'm sharing swatches for the Summer Daze Collection from Penny Bloom Nail Polish, which consists of over ten creme finishes. This is a new-to-me brand who has this awesome concept of personalizing each bottle! Not only can you name each shade whatever you'd like, there is also the ability to create your own shade on the site. That said, let's get to the swatches... but before we do fair warning this post is very photo heavy.

Bikini Days can be described a raspberry pink creme. Starting off the collection with one of the favorites. It's a very unique shade of pink that I didn't have in my collection. I love how vibrant it is for the summer without going into the neon territory. Plus it's always a major win when a pink looks good against my complexion.

The formula has a decent opacity, but leans on a sheer application. It has great self-leveling throughout with a balanced consistency. Not too thick or too thin. It has a very creamy finish that dries in a high-shine on its own. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Blue Lagoon can be described as a sky blue creme. Another favorite, if not THE favorite from this collection. Granted I'm always a sucker for a good blue so I may be biased, haha. This particular hue is perfect for the summer and I honestly was surprised that I didn't have one similar in my collection already.

The formula has a very sheer application, but it ends up building-up really well. It has even coverage throughout and a great consistency that makes layering easy. Very smooth and creamy finish, also dries to a high shine on it's own. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Dog Days can be described as a beige nude creme. I'm always down for a fair nude shade, but this one wasn't doing it for me. There is something about the hue that brings out a little too much warmth from my skin-tone. I wasn't too fond of the formula either, which ended up taking a bit away from the color itself for me.

The formula has a very sheer, almost jelly-like application although it's supposed to be a creme. It leans on the thick side and needed some thinner to help ease the layering. The bottle has a bit of white flecks in the bottle as well, possible due to a batch issue (currently waiting to hear back from the maker). There is a visible nail line even after layering and as I said tends to feel more like squishy jelly. There are a few others in this collection that share this similarity. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Greenscape can be described as a grass green creme. Definitely one of the best shades in this collection in terms of color and formula. I'm not a crazy fan of greens, but when they are done this well it's hard to resist. Initially I didn't like two similar greens in the same collection, but you can clearly distinguish the two.

The formula has a really nice opaque application, but not enough to be a one coater. It has a really smooth and creamy finish that dries down to a high shine. Great consistency as well and easy to work with. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Morning Light can be described as a medium yellow creme. Hands down the hidden gem in this collection, I mean look at how creamy it looks! I really never would have expected for me to be swooning over a yellow shade, haha.

The formula has a sheer application that leans on the patchy side. It ends up evening out really well, great self-leveling throughout. Although it's not visible in the photos, I did have a very minimal visible nail line for these swatches. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Ocean Deep can be described as a navy blue creme. Okay so far I've talked about all these shades that were unexpected favorites, right? Well here's an example of the opposite situation. Going into this collection I thought this was going to be my "holy moly!" shade and it wasn't due to the sheerness. This is intended to be a cream though so I do believe my batch might have had an issue.

Similar to Dog Days, the formula is sheer and tends to have more of a jelly-like application. Although it builds up well, it wasn't enough for coverage and you can see the visible nail line. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Penny Bloom Nail Polish - Self-Tanner

Self Tanner can be described as a warm honey creme.

Like the previous polish, this one also has that same sheer jelly feel to the application. Consistency wise leans a bit on the thick side so I needed to add some thinner to be able to layer. As expected from a sheer application, there is a visible nail line. It dries down to a very gorgeous high shine. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Smoothie can be described as a medium green creme.

The formula has a very opaque application, almost a one coater. Consistency wise it feels very balanced, not too thick or thin. Nice even coverage and applies like butter. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Solar Ray can be described as an orange red creme. Here's another unexpected favorite of mine! I have to give it up to shades that really blow away my expectations. Not only do I love the vibrance of the hue, but the I love the tone. It's again a shade with that magical tinge of uniqueness.

The formula has a really nice opacity, but not quite a one coater. Very smooth with a great balanced consistency, not too thick or too thin. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Penny Bloom Nail Polish - Summer Night

Summer Night can be described as a deep teal color. Not only did we start with a favorite, but we're closing out the review with another. It's such a rich color that I wouldn't expect to see it in a summer collection. Definitely very eye-catching and a total must-have for me, I bet it'd look so good with some bright fun nail art over it!

The formula has a really nice opaque application, but not enough to be a one coater. It has a nice even build-up and coverage, super smooth throughout. Despite it's rich color and heavy pigmentation, I experienced no staining on removal. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Overall there are a lot of winning cremes in this collection that absolutely make me swoon! I do wish the formulas were more consistent throughout the collection, but I do believe there might have been a batch mishap. A handful of the bottles seem to have bits of either pigment or base, but at least it didn't seem to effect the application for the most part. I'll definitely update you guys once I receive feedback from the maker. That aside though, I do think there are some definite must-haves. My personal picks would have to be Summer Nights and Blue Lagoon, can you imagine those two together for some nail art?! I totally need to remember to do that myself, haha. But those are my favorites, now let me know which ones are yours?
