Hiya guys! The sun shining bright and I am looking forward to some plans this weekend. I still have a few days a head of me so I am getting ahead of myself. After all we have some polish talk to do first, haha. Now are you ready for something a little different today? I sure hope so because I have a very exciting post to share that I have been trying going-on for at least a month now. Today I'm sharing my review on a newly released product 2x Super Chip Resistance, which acts as both a basecoat and a topcoat. Sounds interesting, eh? I thought so too and that's why I wanted to try it out for myself. It's definitely been a little rough in-between swatch sessions, but I'll break the details down below. Without further ado, let's get right into this review!
2x Super Chip Resistance is available for purchase online in the shop. Each 7.4mL bottle retails for $7.99.
So let's talk about what exactly is 2x Super Chip Resistance?

Are you intrigued yet? Because I sure was based on the premise and description. Even though I am not someone who normally wears nail polish for a long period of time. But whenever I do get a chance to wear a lacquer for a few days I know I need it to not chip. Mostly because the visual will drive me crazy, haha. Especially when I'm going out - for me nail polish is like make-up and this girl cannot go out without it, haha. In all seriousness though, I think the premise moreso appealed to me for the purposes of maintaining nail art in tact for a while. There is nothing more frustrating than working on a design for hours to then have it chip away the very next day. So it goes without saying that something like this was right up my alley from the word go even as a serial swatcher.
First thing I need to mention was how overwhelmed I felt with the scent. Immediately upon opening the bottle I was hit with a very strong chemical odor that ended making me feel unwell. I am normally sensitive to smells (note - blue polishes that tend to have 'skunky' smells affect me as well), so I tried to tolerate it as best as I could during testing. But the smell ended up being so unbearable I ended up not being able to wear it long term. So I couldn't even test the main reason for me wanting to test this product in the first. Now the formula itself seemed a little bit off as well. The consistency felt very runny during the application, almost like a sleek oil, and ended up flooding to my cuticles and underneath my nail despite my best efforts. The brush on the bottle did not seem to help in this case, it's very thin and hard to manage.
To recap, 2x Super Chip Resistance is available for purchase online in the shop. Each 7.4mL bottle retails for $7.99.

2X is a lavender-infused clear coating that prevents most nail polish from chipping for an extended period of time. 2X dries very quickly so it won’t add any time to your manicure. It does not make removing your nail polish more difficult. Apply a thin coating of 2X to clean nails and then apply your polish and topcoat as you normally would. Once the polish is dry, apply one final thin coat of 2X on top and your spectacular long-lasting manicure is set to go. 2X has been proven to double the life of most nail polishes.

Unfortunately my results were not as ideal as the premise made it out to be. During my testing period I didn't seem to have the best of luck with certain finishes. Especially with finishes like creams and holographics (the photograph above is a brown holographic). I waited for over five minutes (timed) to ensure that the base was completely dry before applying the polish. But even after giving it suffice time during the application of the polish it ended up crinkling the finish and creating an uneven clumpy look. It ended up becoming even worse after I tried to wait for the polish to dry to add topcoat. After my results with this particular polish I tried a few different brands and finishes that ended with similar results.
Please note: body chemistry plays a huge role in how products like this will work. As you may or may not know I am going through a lot of health problems at this time. I'm going on a weekly basis for IV infusions to treat my anemia as well as taking other medications. I genuinely can't help but feel that this may have influenced the strange behavior 2X had on my nails. I've read other reviews from bloggers and no one seems to have the same problem I did. Just something to note.
