Hiya guys! Do you know what's happening in just a few days? I mean besides my big 30th birthday, haha. That was my lame attempt to be a little cheeky and I don't think it worked as well as it did in my head. But there is something much more exciting then me getting older happening and that would be the Indie Shop event over at San Francisco. I definitely wish I could be there, but it's just too far for me to travel at the moment. Luckily for me I can live through polish as I have some event exclusives to show you. Today I'm sharing swatches a few shades created for the Indie Shop SF event by Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish. All of these are filled with shimmer, glitter, and a whole lot of gorgeous. Spoiler alert... one of these is a freaking thermal! Without further ado, let's get to the swatches!
The Indie Shop SF shades by Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish will be launching at the event Saturday, July 29th. Each full-size 15mL shade will retail between $10 to $11 at the event. If you're unable to attend the event, do not worry there is a LE pre-order made available July 29th through August 5th only.
VIP Party on the Surface can be described as a white polish packed with blue, green, gold, red, and purple sparkles. This shade is an exclusive to the bag given to VIP attendees and will not be available after the event. It's a shame this won't be available for those not VIP because it's really a beautiful shade. The hints of sparkle aren't justified in photos and definitely comes to life under sunlight. I just really adore it's simple nature especially you don't see much done in terms of white polish. Definitely unique to my collection and it made me remember how much I love a clean white base against my skin tone. Just look at that tan glow!
The formula has a sheer application that is a bit patchy on the initial coats. It ends up building up well for full and even coverage. Consistency wise it leans on the thick side, but it's manageable for layering. I do think for future use I'll end up adding a bit of thinner. It dries down to a smooth high-shine finish on its own. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Seashells for Sandals (Pink) can be described as a muted shell pink shimmer packed with purple-teal-blue-green UCC flakies, red, purple, and blue mermaid sparkles, and rose, purple, and blue micro flakies. Doesn't this remind you so much of the beach? I don't even like the beach, but I am like down to go after wearing this polish haha. It's a beautiful and unique combination of shimmer and flakies that bounces off nice against the subtle base. In my photos it's a bit rough to tell, but the flakies have a gorgeous mermaid like reflection that is captured under direct sunlight. That said, the color itself though was not my favorite against my skin-tone as it brought too much warmth.
The formula has a sheer application that ends up building-up well for full coverage. Consistency wise it's well balanced, not too thick or too thin. Layering wasn't an issue and the flakes dispersed well onto the nail without clumping up too much. It dries down to a minimal gritty finish that smooths out after a thick layer of topcoat. The larger flakes in particular tend to stand out on the base so even doubling up on the topcoat would be ideal. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Under the Sea can be described as deep sea green to soft ocean blue thermal shimmer with green & gold flash, packed with various purple, purple holo, purple-blue iridescent, and blue-green iridescent glitters. Two things I always go crazy for are thermals and anything blue/teal. This is the legit best combination of those two things I have seen in a very long time and I am screaming about it. If you get nothing else let this be the one guys! The color to glitter combination is so much fun to look at and wear, especially now for the summer time. It has all the mermaid vibes going and it works so well with the jelly-ish nature of the finish. Plus it looks fantastic against my skin complexion.
This shade is the event exclusive (overpours will only be available through the FB Fan Group so be sure to join) and retail for $10 each.
The formula has a sheer application that builds-up well but it does not have full coverage. Even after some layering I did have a noticeable visible nail line in the warm state. In the cold state however there didn't seem to be too much of the nail line showing. The consistency leans on the thick side, but it wasn't too surprising considering how glitter heavy it is. In order to have an easier time layering I did add thinner to help ease the coats and it really made the difference. The transition was flawless and I was able to trigger each color change without issue or much hassle. All effects were triggered with your standard cups of cold and hot water. It dries down to a gritty finish that smooths out perfectly after topcoat. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Seashells for Sandals (nude) can be described as a sandy nude shimmer packed with purple-teal-blue-green UCC flakies, gold, green, and blue mermaid sparkles, and green and blue micro flakies. Here we have the sister shade to the previous pink variation with the same name. Personally this is definitely my favorite among the two, especially because the nude base looks pretty good against my skin complexion. It does bring out some warmth, but it isn't overwhelming and doesn't cause any clashing. Also I love love the colored flakies against the nude, it stands out so much more and has more of an eye-catching factor.
The formula has a sheer application with a good build-up for full coverage. Very similar application and feel as the pink version. Consistency is well balanced throughout and doesn't lean neither thin or thick. Plenty of flakies per brush stroke that spread out pretty evenly and without cluttering on the nail. No placement or fishing is needed at all. It dries down to a gritty finish and smooths out after topcoat. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
