Flirtin Cosmetics - Live Band or DJ Turn Up!
Live Band or DJ Turn Up can be described as a pastel pink jelly is filled with large bright pink hex glitters. Starting this review with a really pretty shade that I wasn't expecting to like. I think it's mostly because I haven't played with a glitter jelly/topper in quite a long time. It's always fun to see these yester-year finishes make a return in a world of holo and shimmers. There is beauty to be found in simplicity. Plus it's such a fun finish for the season, cute and different all in one. It paired nicely over white, but I can see it being really gorgeous over a gradient as well. The pink didn't clash against my skin-tone and instead gave my complexion a nice glow.
The formula has a sheer application as intended for a jelly. However I did find it to be too sheer for my liking and didn't feel like the base provided any coloring or coverage. Hence why I chose to pair it as a topper over a simple white base. The consistency leans on thick and was hard to layer evenly on the nail without it clumping. I ended up choosing to do glitter placement for the application and although it was time consuming it does look really nice. Also I did try adding thinner to see if that helped any, but it didn't feel like it made much of a difference. It dries down to a gritty finish that needed a thick layer of topcoat in order to smooth down. Shown in two coats over a white base and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Flirtin Cosmetics - Ice-Cream Cone or Blue Raspberry Italian Ice
Ice-Cream Cone or Blue Raspberry Italian Ice can be described as a Maui blue jelly finish. It's blue AND it's a jelly... was this shade made specifically for me? Haha. No that's not the case but it really feels like it should be. Just like the glitter topper, it feels like a hot minute since I have worn a straight up jelly finish. I love everything about this shade especially how squishy the finish ends up looking. I know the sheer-ness is not for everyone, but it is something I have always been a fan of. Especially for nail art, which I miss doing so much. Now the color itself is pretty unique in the realm of blues. At least for my collection. And of course it looks fantastic against my skin-tone and doesn't bring out too much warmth.
The formula has a sheer application that does not provide full coverage as intended for a jelly. It does build-up really well and gives a potent colored finish all things considered. The consistency is well balanced throughout, not too thick or too thin. Very easy to work with and to layer. The finish dries down to a smooth high-shine on it's own, but I do recommend the topcoat as always. I'd also like to note I didn't experience any staining on removal to either my nail beds or cuticles. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Flirtin Cosmetics - Ocean's Tide or Fire Hydrant's Sprinkle
Ocean's Tide or Fire Hydrant's Sprinkle can be described as a soft duo chrome purple-blue shade. And here we have my favorite among them all, which is saying something because I really ended up loving all of these much more than I thought I would. But I digress this shade is the stand-out amongst this collection and has my must-have stamp of approval. I wish my photos could capture the color shift properly, it's definitely much more noticeable in person. Especially under direct sunlight aka that thing I never get cause I'm a vampire, haha. Now the tone does bring out a bit of warmth from my skin-tone, but it's not enough to turn me off from the hue.
The formula has a sheer application that builds-up well for full coverage. Consistency wise it leans a little on the thin side, but it's manageable and easy to work with. As I mentioned before, my photos really don't capture the chrome color shifting and it's much prettier under direct sunlight. It dries down to a smooth high-shine finish on it's own though I would say topcoat is recommended. The finish does have minimal brush strokes that for the most part tend to blend out as it dries. I experienced no staining on removal to either my nail beds or cuticles. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
