Brownie's Birthday Mani

Hiya guys! How's it going this afternoon? I cannot believe I forgot to tell you guys, but yesterday was my dearest Brownie's 6th Birthday. He's been sad since the passing of Chino last month, so I wanted his birthday to be a little extra special. We had a mini doggie party for him that included lots of new toys, a new shirt, and cupcakes. And, of course, I had to celebrate the best way I know how... by doing nail art! I actually wanted to have these done and posted yesterday, but it took me so long I ended up being too tired haha. I haven't been this proud of a mani since last July when I did the popular Jack the Skeleton King mani.

What do you guys think? The doggie face obviously took me the longest and I ended up doing the outline at 5-6 a.m. and then waking up around 2 p.m. to finish it up.

Doggie Nail Art

Here's the materials used to create this look:
  • Base polish: Zoya's Jacqueline
  • Article Paint: Brown, Tan, White, Black, Pale Pink, Navy Blue
  • Detail Brush from Winstonia
  • Big Shine Topcoat by Sally Hansen

After thirty minutes of being stuck on how to draw the doggie face, I took a time out. I ended up doing a rough sketch in my nail book and that ended up working much better than I thought it would. It really helped me figure out how to properly place everything. Thank goodness I used acrylic paint too cause those dang doggie ears took me forever to figure out. All in all, I'm really proud of this mani. Starting off 2015 strong!

This mani was also created for Crumpet's Nail Challenge 31DC2015 - Day 4 - Happiness. Because there is nothing in the whole world that brings me more happiness than my dogs. They are my light when I'm in my dark place, my best friends, and will always be my little 'puppies' no matter how old they get.

  12. This is so lovely, your freehand is killer. I think I really need to try more of that with acrylic paint, because doing it with nail polish seems to be my main issue!
