Hiya guys. It's just another cloudy day here in Jersey, but at least it's not raining. I just wish it was better weather, I need some sunshine to put some pep back in my step. Anyway, for today I'll be sharing a review on a stamping plate from the Born Pretty Store. I've done a few reviews in the past for Born Pretty, including a Stamping Plate Organizer last week!
Stamping Plate BP-18 from Born Pretty Store is one of their newer plates available online. You can find this plate listed as item #17263 and it retails for $2.99 each.
The plate is titled 'Leaf & Feather '... but you guys see that little mask on the upper right hand side right? Haha. A little out of place perhaps, but I still find the image to be cute nonetheless. The main images that really intrigued me as soon as I saw this plate were the two feather images on the right-hand side. So gorgeous!
Although the images on the plate are fantastic in design, I did experience some issues with picking up the imprint on some. Specifically some of the tinier lines would not transfer in the middle top and the middle bottom images. I did try a few different stamper heads and two different brands of stamping polish, but I had the same result.

First and foremost probably one of my favorite stamping images on any Born Pretty plate to date! The image picks up very clean and crisp without any issues. I used a white stamping polish from Konad over a lilac and dark blue gradient. The lilac color is a prototype from Drip Drop Polish and the blue is Ryan from Zoya. I finished the design off with a matte topcoat from Butter London.

The other image I decided to use was the different kind of feathers available on the plate. Some of the feathers didn't pick up as nicely as I would of liked. There were certain spots where the polish just wasn't able to capture fully, for example like on the left side of my pointer nail. Again, I did try this with a few different polishes and ended up with the same spots in the image having the issue. The base used in this mani was also a prototype polish from Drip Drop Polish and I sealed this design off with Seche Vite topcoat.
Overall while I love the image designs, I had a hard time picking up the images to stamp with. This of course completely defeats the purpose of this plate unfortunately. Perhaps this is a faulty plate? I'm not sure, but I did order new stamping polish and stamper head so I can try again. I'm not one to give up easily on beautiful plates haha. Especially because I have tried other plates from Born Pretty without any issues. Do any of you guys have this particular plate? Did it work for you?

The timing of this post is impeccable! I was thinking last night about picking up a plate with feathers on it as the one I currently have isn't quite what I have in mind, lol! Have you tried stamping with a polish designed for it? I usually don't use stamping polishes, and I wonder if that's why I don't always get the best pick-up whenever I stamp.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous stamping! You've paired them all beautifully!
ReplyDeleteThanks :) I'm so glad that you like them as much as I do!
DeleteLove the feathers over the gradient, perfect! Too bad some of the images not picking up.
ReplyDeleteThanks! And yeah it's definitely a shame because the patterns look so pretty.
DeleteThe second design is my favorite - so soft and delicate! I have been really loving Born Pretty's stamping plates lately!
ReplyDeleteYour stamping is incredible! That feather one is my favorite! The gradient background is stunning!
ReplyDeleteThank you :) That one was my favorite too, I had the idea for it for weeks before I finally got to have it done.
DeleteLove the stamping over gradient!! Bummer about the images not picking up well, the palm tree image looked so promising!
ReplyDeleteThanks that's my favorite too! I really cannot wait to use the palm trees again, I will not give up on this plate lol.
DeleteGorgeous! Love the 2nd one the best!
ReplyDeleteHmm, a shame you had those issues picking up the images! I didn't have any issues with my plates so far but they definitely are not etched very deep.
ReplyDeleteI always find these kinds of images hard to pick up.. I usually have to try a few times, before I get the hang of things. I have this plate too and I had the same experience as you did with the second image. I do love the way you used this plate though, these manis are very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI had issued with the central top pattern, too, which is a shame because it was my favourite! Love your first mani!
ReplyDeleteBoth of these designs are beautiful. Even if they didn't cooperate the way that you would have liked.
ReplyDeleteBP has some nice images but I feel the quality is hit or miss
ReplyDeleteI bought this plate but have not used those particular images yet. I love the swirly pattern at the top!
ReplyDeleteThat feather gradient mani is giving me life, so pretty! That's too bad about the finer patterns though.
ReplyDeleteThis plate is really pretty! It's a shame about the 2nd one not fully picking up though. Can't go wrong with feathers!
