Hiya guys! Woohoo for almost the weekend and almost time for polish releases. I must have like five alarms set on my phone for Friday. Of course, I can't be the only one ripping a new hole in the wallet so here's something to enable you with. Today I'm sharing swatches for Supermoon Lacquer's August contribution to the Polish Pickup Collaboration. If you're not familiar with the concept, the Polish Pickup offers a fun, interactive experience that allows you to submit theme ideas, vote for your favorite theme, and selectively purchase your favorite polishes every month. As you know this month's theme is Old Hollywood and Mardi has a heck of a polish for her PPU debut! Let's get to the swatches!

A Boy's Best Friend by Supermoon Lacquer will be available for purchase through the Polish Pickup Shop August 4th through August 7th. This full-size shade will retail for $11.00 each.

Mardi is truly a girl after my own heart *sigh* A Boy's Best Friend is inspired by the classic Alfred Hitchcock movie, Psycho, and Norman Bates' famous line - "A boy's best friend is his mother." If you haven't seen the movie I highly suggest watching it, it's hands down one of the most iconic movies you'll ever see. And yes, I'm one of those people who have every line and scene memorized haha.

Supermoon Lacquer - A Boy's Best Friend

A Boy's Best Friend can be described as a dark-gray/black base that leans brownish-purple in certain lighting/angles filled with with red color-shifting shimmer, rose pearl flakies, red holo and metallic micro-glitter, silver holo micro-glitter, and silver holo flakies.

Let me start by saying, photos don't do the holo sparkle any justice. It's truly stunning in natural sunlight! Not only that, but it's very nice and complimentary on my skin-tone. The combination of base and glitters really nail the inspiration, no pun intended. But it's those glints of red that really capture the essence of Psycho and Norman Bates. It's like the little spark underneath a cold demeanor that's ready to ignite. Maybe it's my passion for the movie peeking through, but I'm absolutely in love with everything about this polish.

The formula has a very opaque application, pretty much a one coat. Though I did decide on an additional coat to add more sparkle to the finish. It has a really easy to work with consistency that's very much balanced, not too thick or too thin. The finish ends up drying to a minimal gritty feel that smooths out perfectly after topcoat. Shown here are two coats sealed with a glossy topcoat.
