Stella Chroma - Into the Woods | Late Fall 2017 Collection

Hiya guys! We are half way through another long week, especially if you're dragging at work like me. The weekend quickly flies by, but during the week it's as slow as a turtle. Thankfully I have another day full of polish to enable you with. Don't you just love it?! Haha. Today I'm sharing swatches for the Into the Woods Collection by Stella Chroma, which consists of four shades filled with shimmery goodness. This collection is inspired by the animals seen in the woods of Pam's home in Indiana. There is quite a few that are endangered, including some which most people wouldn't expect! Because of that a portion of sales for these polishes will be donated to the Indiana Wildlife Federation! There is no better combination than a good cause and a good polish, so with that in mind let's jump into these swatches.

Stella Chroma - Deer Abby
Stella Chroma - Deer Abby

Deer Abby can be described as a creamy white with a dusting of copper holo glitter. I honestly wasn't expecting to be 'wowed' with this shade, but it was more than a pleasant surprise. The touch of copper glitter gives it such a nice crelly vibe and gives the otherwise simple side a nice pop factor. And it really fits into the season whilst still being wearable year round. I ended up really liking how well it looks against my skin-tone as well. It brings out warmth (like most white/light) colors do, but it looks good and doesn't clash.

The formula has a sheer and patchy application with little self-leveling. As it's layered though it ends up building-up pretty well for full coverage and looks very creamy. You do have to be careful during yourself brush strokes to not pull too hard and cause patchy areas. Definitely can be considered a crelly, which makes me so happy as I miss wearing the finish. Consistency wise it's pretty well balanced, not too thick or too thin. The finish dries down to a gritty feel and semi-satin, but smooths out perfectly after topcoat. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Stella Chroma - Sight For Soar Eyes
Stella Chroma - Sight For Soar Eyes

Sight For Soar Eyes can be described as a deep chocolate brown crelly with a prominent orange shimmer and filled with gold and white flakies. This legit made me just put out a chocolate bar, haha. Like where did it even come from? I don't know but let's move on as I munch. So I really like the unique undertones for this chocolate brown base and it's really even the shimmer because that's actually subtle. It has a nice richness that is subdued enough to make it a wearable color with any outfit. Plus very work-office friendly, which is always a plus if you're in that field. The flakies, like the shimmer, come across as subtle as well and work together nicely to again just bring out that base color to the forefront.

The formula has a very opaque application although it cannot be considered a one coater. It has a well balanced consistency, not too thick or too thin. Very easy to work with and to layer on the nail. The flakies are so subtle they really just flow throughout the layering without the need to worry about clumping. It dries down pretty smooth on it's own, but I do recommend a thick layer of topcoat for the sake of the flakies. Although they feel smooth on the nail, once it dries it can create the illusion of some texture on the finish. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Stella Chroma - Ugly Peacock
Stella Chroma - Ugly Peacock

Ugly Peacock can be described as a lighter brown duo-chrome that shimmers into shades of green, gold, and orange. Wowza. I feel like throughout my time reviewing this shade I was on the fence about whether or not I loved the color. I can definitely appreciate the uniqueness of the color as it's unlike anything in my collection. The shimmers throughout the base really give it that extra eye-catching factor without overwhelming or taking away from the chrome effect. It's a really nice combination and makes for a unique polish that I can't help but end up loving. Plus it's another one of these colors that I typically wouldn't go for, so I like being taken out of my element for something different.

The formula has a pretty good opacity and builds-up for full coverage well. Consistency wise though it leans on the thick side and made layering a bit tricky. I ended up adding some thinner and it helped the layering process so much. It dries down to a minimal gritty finish that smooths out after topcoat. There are some visible brush strokes in the finish, but they mostly end up blending out. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Stella Chroma - Whiskey Tango Fox
Stella Chroma - Whiskey Tango Fox

Whiskey Tango Fox can be described as a deep red/orange jelly filled with holo flakies. And now we are finishing off the review with my favorite shade from this collection. Heck it's actually a swatching favorite from this season so far! The holo flakies bring the base to life and give it such a mesmerizing glow. I'm not usually one to gravitate towards orange hues, but something about this one is too irresistible. Plus it's so vibrant and like I said before it almost feels like it glows, it's nice to have some brightness going into the winter season. And surprisingly, the color looks really great against my skin complexion and doesn't bring out too much warmth from my undertones.

The formula has a sheer application as expected for a jelly finish. However this jelly actually builds-up really nice and easy for full coverage without too many coats. The consistency is well balanced, not too thick or too thin, which helps a lot with the layering. It dries down to a minimal gritty finish that smooths out perfectly after topcoat. Adding an extra layer of topcoat also really helps and seals in that squishy jelly look (which I personally love!). Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
