Colors by Llarowe - Spring Forward | Swatch & Review

Hiya guys! It's the start of a new week and almost the start of a new month actually. April seems to have gone by in the blink of an eye, but as I have mentioned before I have been home under quarantine. Actually this past weekend was my first time leaving the house in over a month. I wish I could say I have been keeping busy being productive, but that's not really the case if I'm being honest. In the beginning of the month, I swatched a handful of polishes but kind of fell off after that. I'm in the process - finally - of editing all the photos, so hopefully I can do some more as I show off the ones I have already done. My polish mountain is pretty near endless at this point, so I have no fear of running out of polish anytime soon. In other words, be prepared for a lot of throwbacks if you keep up with the polish community. Today I'm sharing swatches for Spring Forward by Colors by Llarowe, which was released as the Polish of the Month back in April 2018. Talk about timing! I didn't even realize what month this polish was released when I decided to blog about it. Kinda like divine timing, doesn't it? Anyway let's go ahead and get to these swatches!

Colors by Llarowe - Spring Forward | Swatch & Review

Spring Forward by Colors by Llarowe is no longer available for purchase. Since it has been quite a long time I feel like your best bet is to try and find this shade in a destash/polish selling group.

Spring Forward can be described as grape purple crelly base with prismatic holographic flake and red to lilac shimmer. Isn't she such a beauty?! Again, I cannot believe I waited so long to finally wear it. Truth be told I wouldn't have even swatched this polish if it wasn't for my friend Daniella. I randomly texted her to pick a polish color and she immediately said purple. It's her favorite color so I should have known, haha. I had my Colors by Llarowe helmer drawer pulled out since I had finished swatching Emerald Illusion, so I dug in and took out the first purple shade I saw. And boom here we are! Usually I'm not a fan of purple polishes against my skin-tone as it tends to bring out a lot of red warmth. Makes me look a little on the lobster side. But in this case I feel like the color is so vibrant that it causes me to have more of a glow effect. The touches of red shimmer throughout really help give the finish that extreme level of depth and dimension. Really mesmerizing, especially under direct sunlight. I can see myself pulling this out quite a bit, especially in the summer months. Heck I kind of expect Daniella to ask to borrow the shade after she sees this post, haha.

The formula has a really good opacity, but isn't enough to be considered a one coater. This beauty definitely needs some layering, especially so that you can get that 'in your face' kind of glitter and shimmer finish. It builds-up easily making the whole layering process total cake and the coats seamlessly blend with each other as well. Consistency wise it's well balanced throughout, not too thick or too thin. It gave me no issues whatsoever despite the heavy use of flakes throughout each coat. The finish dries down to a minimal gritty feel as expected, but it does smooth out perfectly after some topcoat. I'd also like to note that I did not experience any staining to my cuticles or nail beds on removal. The swatch is shown here in two to three coats and was sealed off with a glossy topcoat.

And that's it for the quickie swatch of the week! Hmm swatch of the week? Is that a thing now? I'm not sure, but it sounds good and I kinda want to make it a thing. Then again the last thing I need right now is to commit myself to a schedule I can't keep and end up in a worse mindset. With my lack of motivation it might turn into swatch of the year instead of week. I shouldn't say that, haha. Mostly because it's scary accurate with how I'm feeling right now. That said, I'm really going to try my best to stay active and do even a little something every day. Try is definitely the key word here. If there are any older polishes you'd like to see swatched please let me know down in the comments. I hope you've enjoyed seeing this throwback shade as much as me! Stay safe, keep washing your hands, and I will catch you later xoxo Moonbaes.
