Hiya guys. TGIF. I'm so glad it's finally Friday and I get to relax (or at least try to) with my hubs. I'm looking forward to watching Antman tomorrow night in the 'Cinema' suite at AMC. It's a little pricey to go to the dine-in theater, but it's a really nice experience and I love going. But anyway, for today I have swatches to share from the indie Tux Polish. These are a different assortment of polishes from various collections available in shop at the current moment. I love that I received such an array of finishes and colors because it gives a good feel for a first time experience. Now let's get to it.
All these polishes are available through Tux Polish in both mini and full size bottles. Also available are the complete sets from their individual collections in full size bottles.
Tux Polish - Team Us
Team Us, part of the Bling Quartet collection, is a glitter topper filled with blue and pink shiny and matte glitters. Now you can pair this over your favorite color or layer it by itself like I did here. The micro glitters end up building up quite nicely without clumping and the formula gives full coverage. There is some dabbing involved so for a smoother application, use a sponge to dab on the second coat. Because of the very glittery finish, you'll need a thick layer of topcoat to smooth it all down well. For these swatches I ended up opting for two layers of Rica's glossy topcoat.
Tux Polish - Bossy
Bossy, part of the Bling Quartet collection, is a bright pink glitter polish filled with silver, holographic, and pink glitters. Such a diva-licious shade! The color to glitter combination are extremely cute and definitely capture the sass. Smooth formula and just like Team Us it's best to dab on the second to third coat. It does end up drying a bit textured due to the glitters, but smooths down with topcoat flawlessly. Shown here is two coats sealed in with Rica topcoat.
Tux Polish - Antigua
Antigua, part of the I Need a Vacation collection, is a Caribbean-sea turquoise creme polish with gold glitter and flakes. Love, love, love this polish. Did I say love enough times? Seriously, it's a perfect match for my turquoise obsession. The gold flakes add a very classy touch and feel. Formula was on the thick side, but manageable enough that I didn't feel the need to add thinner. The good thing is that the polish is very opaque to the point of almost being a one coater. Shown here is two thin coats sealed in with Rica topcoat.
Tux Polish - Bestie
Bestie is a sky blue creme with a subtle hint of shimmer throughout. Definitely adore this particular shade. It's very summery and fun. I'm also a huge fan of the color blue because it tends to compliment my skintone very nicely. Formula was patchy on the first two coats and even with a third coat it felt very uneven. The consistency was just a tad bit thick, but nothing unmanageable. Topcoat seemed to be the magic key, because one layer of it and the polish self leveled and had a smooth finish.
Tux Polish - Grape Soda
Grape Soda is a dark plum crelly polish. It's undoubtedly such a vampy shade. So sleek and dare I say sexy. I'm actually still wearing it and will be throughout the weekend. Now let's talk formula, which ends up being very similar to Bestie. The formula is patchy and uneven throughout, but you wouldn't be able to tell from these swatches. That's because topcoat ends up smoothing out all the wrinkles and leaves behind a silky smooth finish. Before applying topcoat though, it does dry to a matte look. Shown here is three thin coats and sealed with Rica topcoat.
Overall some of the formulas left a little to be desired, but this is a relatively new indie so I expect improvement in the future. The creative aspect is definitely there and I enjoyed the varied colors and finishes. If I have to pick one above the rest, I would have to go with Grape Soda. Despite it's rough application, the color is so captivating to me. Tell me guys, which one is your favorite? And as I mentioned before, all these polishes are available through Tux Polish in both mini and full size bottles.
