Stamping Saturday Week 1 | Crumpet Nail Art Challenge - Wedding

Hiya guys! It's been quite some time since I've taken part of Stamping Saturdays and the Crumpet's Nail Challenge. Like at least half a year! Once I started getting sick it was hard to keep up with it all, but I hated not doing as much nail art. So starting this month I'll be making an effort again to do these challenges weekly. My prompt for Crumpet was wedding, so I thought I'd do a little cheating and combine challenges. After all wedding manicures always make me think of lace stamping!

What do you guys think? I feel like it's such a dainty design that would work with any color combination. I actually did a similar design in blue back in December in gloss rather than matte.

The main focus of this design is how the stamping fades into the white. When creating the gradient you want to make sure the white doesn't cover so much of your nail that the stamping isn't clear.

The other focus point is the sheer part of the design or 'negative space' aspect of it. I personally have really stained nails, so doing sheer designs becomes kind of a problem sometimes. Before I would always use Essie's Sugar Daddy as my sheer polish of choice, but I've actually fallen out of love with it. Instead now my sheer shade of choice is the gorgeous OPI Bubble Bath, definitely recommend it if you're looking for a sheer/nude polish.

As always guys, here's a break down of everything I used to create this look:

  • Polishes: OPI Bubble Bath, Color Club French Tip, Girly Bits White Wedding
  • Stamping Plate: Uber Chic Love and Marriage Plate 2
  • Liquid Latex: Mani Defender from Ellison's Organics (*)
  • Top Coat: Matte from B Polished

I have a video tutorial up on my channel with voice-over for you guys. Be sure to subscribe to my channel as I make videos quite a few times a week! I apologize if I sound a little quiet in this video though, everyone is asleep and I didn't want to wake them by talking too loud.

One thing I didn't mention in my video was when applying the sheer polish I sealed it in with a matte topcoat at that point as well. This helped create a more seamless natural look for the sheer part of the design. And even though I went matte with this look, I think it would have worked out equally as well with a gloss topcoat. I should of done both! But this is what happens when you work on a mani at 5 am, you forget some things haha.

Be sure to check out all the other wonderful artists participating in both Stamping Saturdays and Crumpet's Nail Challenge. Have a great weekend and I'll catch you guys later.
