Hiya guys! Why is it always on the coldest days that I crave cold foods, like ice cream haha. It was literally snowing this morning and I'm here having popsicles. The whole while covered in blankets and wearing two pairs of socks. I would say I'm insane, but like... this is pretty much me being normal. But hey in my defense, I have nothing but Polish Pick Up's Sugar Rush theme on the brain. And you can't blame a girl for that with all the gorgeous polishes that'll be available. Speaking of which... Today I'm sharing swatches for Black Raspberry Sorbet by Smokey Mountain Lacquers, which is the February contribution to the Polish Pickup Collaboration. This is one of my favorites this month and I'm betting you'll love it too. Let's go ahead and get to the swatches!

If you're not familiar with the concept, the Polish Pickup offers a fun, interactive experience that allows you to submit theme ideas, vote for your favorite theme, and selectively purchase your favorite polishes every month. As I mentioned before, the theme that was voted for February is Sugar Rush. This month Kim found her inspiration from yummy black raspberry sorbet - delicious!

Smokey Mountain Lacquers - Black Raspberry Sorbet

Black Raspberry Sorbet can be described as a medium purple holo with added lavender galaxy holo micro-glitter and purple to red to orange UCC flakies. And now you can understand those cravings I was having a little more, haha. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not normally a fan of lavender polishes. It's such a hit or miss hue against my skin complexion that I tend to avoid it. This is definitely one of those times I'm glad for the exception. While it does highlight some warmth from my skin color, it doesn't overwhelm it to the point of clashing. Plus it's always nice to experience something so fun and different in the sea of holos, shimmers, and multi-chrome finishes. A polish addict needs her variety!

The formula has a sheer application that builds-up well for full coverage. The consistency leans a bit on the thick side, but it's manageable and didn't give me any trouble during the layering. The flakes seem scarce, but they distribute very evenly on the nail. Plus it ends up giving the finish that right amount of pop without cluttering the base. It dries down to a gritty finish that smooths out perfectly after topcoat. Shown in two to three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.

Like yesterday's shade I had to whip out my matte topcoat and let it works its magic. And once again, I'm SO glad that I did. It captures the whole cold ice cream vibe from the inspiration photo so perfectly. I just think matte topcoat plus flakes is everything dreams are made of no matter the polish. In either finish though this shade is so stunning and definitely deserves a spot in your cart this weekend.
