Nail Art - 4th of July

Hiya guys! I hope you guys are having a nice short work week like I am. Tomorrow is 4th of July in the states so if you celebrate then I have the nail art for you. Yes, that's right I am back with some nail art and a video tutorial as well. Words cannot express how much fun this was to do and film. I just had a blast doing it and that says a lot considering I got to filming after an 8 hour work day and gym session haha. Let's be honest, doing anything after a gym session feels like quite the accomplishment. But I definitely needed to put in the work so I can indulge in some BBQ fun this weekend. So of course BBQs mean cute outfits, which means cute nails to match. Obviously. So hopefully you guys find this look before cute and wearable this weekend.

For this look I thought it was like a distressed brush stroke design, so that's what I decided to call it for this blog post. I hope that makes sense and if it doesn't forgive me for I have a peanut for a brain. Though I honestly wish I could have thought of another way to call this because with my accent trying to say 'distressed' for the video was a nightmare. And I still didn't say it right, haha. You can see the video tutorial up on my channel or just click below.

Here's a breakdown of the tools and polishes I used to create this nail art look. As always please keep in mind this is just all the stuff I personally used, all of them can be easily substituted.

So I obviously have been out of the nail game in quite some time. Especially in regards to nail art. When I sat down to initially do this design I forgot about one little - tiny - fact. I have almost no supplies left, haha. No cotton, no acetone, no liquid latex. Heck not even topcoat. Thankfully I found some things that were usable still and the others I frantically sent the hubs to Sally's for. Now the real funny thing is going into this design I thought I needed a fan brush. It wasn't until I was filming - literally to the point of using it - that I I'm like.... 'wait that's not how I do this'. Don't get me wrong you can definitely accomplish a similar look with a fan brush, but it wasn't what I was going here so it really threw my head for a spin, haha. Hopefully you guys are much better at knowing your supply stash than me.

I really love how this turned out considering it was so simple and quick to create. With me recording (which adds quite a bit of time to creating a look) I was able to finish just under an hour and a half. Maybe to some people that's a lengthy amount of time, but considering plain swatches take me 45 minutes this was crazy speeds for me. But time aside, I think the best part about this look is the abstract nature of it. Coming back into nail art has me feeling a little overwhelmed at times and I tend to freak out on same mistakes. But with abstract nail art there are no real mistakes. You can makes things work and even discover something you weren't even going for. So it definitely helps you focus on the fun aspect of what nail art is supposed to be.
