Hiya guys! Finally have some polish goodness to share with you. Recently I started thinking about switching my nail shape again. I kind of miss the round shape I used to rock and I have to admit it was easier on the maintenance side of things. However all those thoughts are out the window after swatching this polish and I'm still on team square. Actually this polish has done more than just save my nail shape, it's made me want to start swatching more regularly. Moral of the story? A good polish will change your life. Now you probably think I'm being dramatic and... you'd be right. But there's no denying this is a damn good-looking shade! Today I'm sharing swatches for a gorgeous shade called Emerald Illusion by Colors by Llarowe. Can you believe I have probably owned this polish a good 2 maybe 3 years? And this is the first time I've decided to actually wear it. I can feel the regret seeping down to my soul at never wearing such a beauty. I feel like this is going to be a repeated statement on this blog as I go through the drawers upon drawers of untried polish in the next few months. Enough about that though, let's get right into these polish swatches!

Emerald Illusion by Colors by Llarowe is no longer available for purchase. Each full-size 12mL bottle retailed for $8 when it was in-stock. This polish is quite a few years old at this point, so it's probably your best bet to find it in a destash sale or polish selling FB group.

Emerald Illusion can be described as a vivid teal jelly base multichrome that shifts from teal to deep blue to emerald green, with emerald green shimmer. I will start off by saying as beautiful as this is my photos don't do the teal shifts any justice. It shifts seamlessly to a dark but vibrant teal hue with the slightest shift of light, but unfortunately not easily captured due to my set-up. Though in some of the other photos in my post you can catch glimpses of the teal peeking through to the sides of my nails. That aside, I cannot get over how much I love this shade. Usually I don't tend to go for green shades, but there is always an exception and this happens to be one. The color is just too irresistible and looks fantastic against my skin-complexion making it glow. Actually it's one of the those shades that simply looks good on any skin-tone.

The formula has a great opacity coverage considering this is a jelly finish. It builds-up really nicely for full coverage - I actually wrote perfect coverage in my notes during swatching. Consistency wise it leans a little on the thin side, but not enough to be runny or pool at the cuticles. It has a super easy layering process throughout the application. Like I mentioned before, it has a lot shifting shimmer and it's very reflective as well. It dries down to a smooth high shine finish on its own prior to adding topcoat. Even though this shade is very opaque I didn't experience any major staining to my cuticles or nail beds. Always a very nice touch when it comes to a vivid shade in the green to blue family. Shown here in two coats and sealed off with a glossy topcoat.

It feels like a crime against all of humanity that I have owned this polish for possibly three years without wearing it. Someone take my nail polishing rights away.! Haha. Okay actually no, let's not do that because who knows what other treasures I have waiting for me in my helmers. Honestly though I'm having a lot of fun being able to swatch for myself and get to polishes I purchased years ago. It's giving me some peace of mind amongst all the chaos going on outside the four walls of my home. Definitely something much needed as I'm going through a bit of a mental down-swing at the moment. Here's hoping I can keep my momentum going throughout the reminder of this quarantine! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this shade or anything else really. Let me know down in the comments what you think and I'll catch you next time xoxo Moonbaes.
