Summer 2019 Bucket List

Hiya guys! I have fallen behind on my scheduled posts in the past week even though I had all the content ready for weeks. There was a heavy dose of self doubt happening last week that made me feel like I shouldn't bother blogging. Even though I have been thoroughly enjoying doing so again after so long. The thought of sitting down to write felt so daunting and overwhelming, almost like I was drowning. These aren't new feelings, but it has been a while since they sprung back into my head. I don't want this negative part of me to win out, so I'm pushing myself to sit down and type. And here we are with my very late 2019 Summer bucket list, haha. We still have two months of summer left so I don't feel too guilty about taking a while to come up with my list. I totally had to look up when summer ended just to be sure. Believe it or not this actually makes another first for me seeing as I have never done a seasonal bucket list. Mostly because I haven't done anything outside of leaving my home for work and groceries in years. No beaches, no amusement parks, no vacation time whatsoever. So you can see why I'm determined to make the most out of this year? All the activities await!

Summer 2019 Bucket List

I decided to keep my list short and sweet for my first year of planning out my summer. There were some things I wish I could have done like K-Con or Comic Con. But there is this little thing called money and I don't have a lot of it, haha. On the other hand I knew I didn't want to overdo it either with big scale activities for the sake of my anxiety. So here's a list of 10 things I want to do in the next two months!

Summer 2019 Bucket List

1. SEE FIREWORKS FOR THE 4TH OF JULY
And we are off to a great start already, haha. Technically I didn't watch the fireworks on the fourth because it fell on a week day and I was lazy, haha. But I did enjoy some during the baseball game two days later so I'm counting that one as a win.

2. SPEND THE DAY THE BEACH
I know I tell you guys a lot about how I've been sheltered and a home body these last few years, but brace yourselves for this one. I haven't been to the beach in nearly ten years. This becomes even more of a tragedy considering I live a half hour to an hour away from dozens of beaches. I still need to buy a one piece bathing suit, but even if I don't end up getting one it's not stopping me from going at least once to the beach.

3. READ A TOTAL OF 5 BOOKS
Simple enough, right? I really want to be able to read so much more than I have been doing. Time just always seems to run short in the day to make room to read. But even if it's five minutes a day I am determined to get through some of these books that have been collecting dust on my shelf.

4. GO TO A DRIVE-IN MOVIE
There is a drive-in movie place in NJ called Delsea and it's the only drive-in theater the state. It's about an hour away from home and seeing as it's in the same state it's a perfect late afternoon adventure. We actually wanted to go this past weekend, but the four movies that were playing we had either seen or weren't interested. So we plan on going in a few weeks to see the new Fast and Furious spin-off movie. Not my cup of tea, but I figured I'd let Austin have one movie that isn't horror related haha.

5. SEE A SHOW ON BROADWAY
Actually by the time I am posting this I have already purchased tickets to see Aladdin on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre. I am so beyond excited and slightly scared to go, but thanks to family and friends we were able to score excellent tickets. We'll actually have no one sitting on their side of us so that's a big plus for my anxiety.

6. VISIT THE BT21 STORE & WAX MUSEUM IN NYC
Another trip into the city! The BT21 store is a dedicated outlet for BTS toon characters they themselves created. Each one represents one of the members and the store carries a variety of merch. It's located near Times Square, which is also near the wax museum Madame Tussauds. We were even thinking of hitting up Hard Rock Cafe while we are there. But that last one depends on my anxiety... and also how crazy I go at the BT21 store haha. Wallets will RIP this day.

7. TAKE SOPHIA & CASPER TO THE DOG PARK
One of my biggest fears is other dogs harming my pups during outside ventures, so I have never taken my youngsters to a dog park. Or a park in general. I don't want my anxiety and fear to take away from their life experiences so I wanna plan a nice day at my local park. Austin and me recently discovered they have a small section dedicated as a dog park so it's perfect!

8. GO TO SIX FLAGS & ACTUALLY GET ON RIDES
This past weekend was supposed to be our Six Flags day but then NJ decided to have a massive heat wave and well yeah that didn't happen. I am hoping to go a few times since I have a season pass and haven't put it to good use in years. Normally I only end up going once a year for Fright Fest in Oct and never during the summer at all. Hopefully the weather in August is a bit more chill so we can have a day getting on rides. Though I definitely won't do roller coasters... unless this list turns into 'things to do before I die' cause that will surely do me in.

9. HAVE A POOL DAY FOR THE DOGGIES
Simple and sweet. I bought my pups a little pool about two years ago and have only used it once to date. Shameful. Especially since Sophia is bikini ready and I wish I could say that's a joke but it's totally not. We'll probably plan a nice BBQ afternoon so we can enjoy time outside with the dogs  in their pool.

10. WEAR SOMETHING OUTSIDE MY COMFORT ZONE
Oomph. This one is probably the hardest of them all to be honest. It was suggested by my good friend Jasmyn and as soon as I saw what she wrote I wanted to scream 'no way'. But then I thought about it and... sigh. This feels like the point of a bucket list, you know? So I looked in my closet and instantly found the outfit: a blue tie-die skater dress. I have no idea yet when I'll wear it, but I better do so sooner than later. I tried it on before typing this post and it's already big on my frame. If I wait too long it'll be a full on tent instead of a dress, haha.

Summer 2019 Bucket List

So that's my bucket list for the summer! What do you think? I'm not going to lie, looking at all the social activities makes me nervous. Like breaking out in hives and regretting every decision kind of nervous.

  1. Don't feel pressured to wear a suit to the beach if you don't want to. I wear shorts and a tshirt. Helps with sun protection too. Wrangler makes a nice lightweight pair with zipping pockets. They are mens, but so comfortable. I also wear them bicycling.
