Hi guys. Happy St. Patrick's Day, if you happen to celebrate. I originally wanted to try and incorporate some green into my swatch for today, but unfortunately the heat has me feeling ill. For those that don't know, I have hydrocephalus and often experience intense head pains. Of course, when I find myself having time off work this has to come around. Here's hoping for a better tomorrow so I can get through the polish pile taking over my desk. Anyway let me show you what I managed to swatch for today.
This polish by Nails Inc, is called St. James and it's part of their Gel Effect line. As you can see, the label says this polish has a 'plumping effect'... so I ask you guys, do my nails look like they've had botox? Haha.
St. James from Nails Inc is a very lush cherry red creme shade. I know what you're thinking, if you've seen one red then you've seen them all. But it's no secret that I am a huge fan of the color red when it comes to my nails and this one did not disappoint. I was very impressed with how opaque the color was in a single coat, but it is recommended to use two coats for the 'gel' effect. The whole purpose of this polish is that it's supposed to act like a 'gel' polish and give us long durability without the need for the typical gel application process (UV light). I wanted to purposely showcase how glossy this was without a topcoat and it's definitely not bad without it. I love the brush on this polish as well, it's wide-set so I was able to cover almost my entire nail in a single coat. The application overall is very silky and smooth, with minimal staining to your cuticles if you happen to get stray polish on them.
St. James from Nails Inc is available from Sephora for $15.00 each. Honestly, I do have to say I'm not a fan of how pricey these are. It doesn't look that different from a regular creme polish to me to justify the price tag. I will, however, continue to accept these as bribe gifts from my husband when he messes up (that's the reason why I got this in the first place) haha. Seriously though, it's a toss up for me because while the application is incredible, I have seen similar shades for a much more affordable cost. So guys let me know what you think about these Gel effect polishes. Also have you tried any from this brand or any other?
As always, be sure to check out all the other ladies participating in today's Red Coat Tuesday. If you happen to be wearing red yourself, be sure to join us!

This is such a pretty red, but I do agree with you about the price tag. As much as I love a good red creme I'm not gonna spend 15$ (actually more here).
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon, I suffer of migraines very often and I don't know if they are comparable but I know it sucks!
I love red polish, but the guy who does my nails always yells at me when I pick red. It's hard to get off :)
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous polish. It's got that lovely high gloss, and it looks really durable. I love it!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! I am a red hoarder as well but red is such a classic!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say it's botox-ey but it's definitely squishy. If it's any consolation, Nails Inc costs the equivalent of $16 dollars here so considering your final price probably includes something to cover import tax it sounds like you've got a good deal.
ReplyDeleteLove that color!
ReplyDeleteLove, love the red color! Yep, a little pricy, but I would take it as a gift any day of the week. :) Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love how creamy and shiny that is but I wouldn't spend that much on it. It looks beautiful on you though. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that is an awesome red! I also love how glossy and beautiful that sheen is!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing color! I love gel polish but never seem to find the time to apply it...LOL
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat a nice red creme, and this one looks really fab on you!!
ReplyDeleteLove the color, but the price might keep me away, unless it was for a very special occasion.
ReplyDeleteI haven't actually tried this brand. It looks really nice but that is quite the pricey polish!
ReplyDeleteI love that color red. Bright and stands right out. Like saying hey notice me! Never tried this before but I must look out for them next time.
ReplyDeleteI've tried nails inc but nothing from their gel line. Although they don't look plump, I don't see any fine lines so maybe it's actually anti-wrinkle?!? Lol! Anyway, this is a hot little color and I really like it on you!
ReplyDeleteThat is a seriously gorgeous red. You look phenomenal in that color.
ReplyDeleteOMG, Im in love with this color!!! Sorry about those headache. I get migraines, and Im miserable while I have one.
ReplyDeleteI hope you start feeling better soon! That doesn't sound like any fun. This polish is a nice color though!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. I love the colors to it - super sexy!
ReplyDeleteRed is definitely your color! Bummer about not feeling good. I'm still bitter about waking up with the flu on New Year's Eve... in time for one of the few holidays I actually had off from work. Yup, still bitter.
ReplyDeleteWhat awesome color! I love how glossy and polished it looks! Perfect for night parties!
ReplyDeleteThis polish looks great. I love the red. I have wanted to try a gel polish.
ReplyDeleteI like the color and it looks so pretty! That being said, I have a ton of reds and I'm sure I have one like this already.
ReplyDeleteI love the red color!
ReplyDeleteAnd yours are done very well!
The purple is pretty but the red is stunning. Love your nails! Painted my nails green for St. Patrick but seeing your red nails makes me want to change mine right away lol.
ReplyDeleteI love how vibrant the red looks! And hope that you do get to feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteI love this shade of red! I have not tried the gel polish yet, but hear good things about it! I may have to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteI love gel polish. However, I go to the nail salon to have it done because I suck at doing my own nails. The color is very pretty though.
ReplyDeleteThat red is gorgeous!! I always love a good red for my toes during summer!
ReplyDeleteLove the color! I'm curious to note how long it lasts! I am notorious for ruining my nails long before they're due for a touch up.
ReplyDeleteThat is definitely pretty! I love red when it comes to nail polish. The last time I had red nail polish was last Christmas. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice shade, but I just don't buy the gel hype - it's either actual gel, or it's just a creme shade to me ;-).
ReplyDeleteI only have a few Nails Inc polishes but I've never tried their gel effects. I agree that I probably wouldn't buy from this line for myself but like you agree that if someone wanted to give me one to get in my good books I wouldn't say no. ;)
ReplyDeletethat color is so pretty. love it! my daughter would love this!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great color! Your nails look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit too expensive, indeed. The colour is gorgeous, though! I have some polishes from Nails Inc, but they were all gifts, lol!
ReplyDeletetotally loving that red!
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice shade of polish, and I'm not even into red. That's interesting that the brand promises a 'plumping effect' - maybe that's why it costs $15.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful shade of red. So shiny and clear!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a gorgeous shade of red! I've always been a fan of classic red nail polish - looks so awesome!
