January 2020 Favorite Items

Hiya guys! I thought I would do a little something different on my blog, something a little new that I don't think I have done before. Definitely not a unique idea to the internet by any means, haha. I thought it would be nice nonetheless, especially because it'll give you an inside on the things I like. I'm one of those people who once I like something I will continue to use it for years. So I actually don't have new items to introduce into my life too often. Both a good and bad thing. I mean if something isn't broken, why fix it right? But at the same time I feel like I deprive myself of new experiences. This could be applied to almost every aspect of my life if I'm being so honest. So this is me trying to share more tidbits about myself to you guys and forcing myself to try new things all into one.

January 2020 Favorite Items

Well it's not completely about new things though, haha. It's also revisiting things I didn't like once before and never touched again. Or even things that I have had laying around for months or years completely unused. As of right now I haven't decided on the frequency of this kind of post. Maybe it'll be monthly or even bi-monthly, but I'm leaning more towards seasonal right now. I don't want to just use things a few times before I decided how I feel, so doing this on a monthly basis feels a little rushed. You guys will have to let me know what you prefer to read about down in the comments!

Chobani Flip Yogurts
Chobani Flip Yogurts

Chobani Flips are EVERYTHING you need in life and didn't know you were missing. I discovered these last month thanks to my friend Laurie at work and my life has never been the same. Technically speaking these are not gluten-free, which sucks because I am intolerant to an extent. Fortunately these have been working well for my digestive system and doesn't cause me to have flare-ups. I think the amount of gluten in these is so minimal (it should only be the 'flip' side) that it's okay for me to have so long as I stick to my diet the rest of the day. I've been having these for breakfast the past few weeks and it's very filling and gives you that perfect amount of sweetness to kick the morning to a good start.

The flavor selection is crazy insane too ranging from cookies and cream, to key lime pie, to strawberry cheesecake, to peanut butter dream. There are so many more I haven't even had a chance to try out yet! Like I said though, I'm one of those people who when I like something I'll have it everyday. That's how I am with the flavor S'more S'mores! I cannot recommend it enough, it's by far the best flavor of the bunch I've had.

Skinny Pop Popcorn Mini Cakes
Skinny Pop Popcorn Mini Cakes

I've always been a fan of rice cakes (the Quaker brand chocolate ones are delicious), but when I saw these popcorn mini cakes I was iffy. Maybe not so much iffy as I was confused. You see I thought these were the Quaker brand ones I'm used to having and... I also thought these were chocolate flavored. Because you know the bag has the brown color like chocolate. Even though the label is pretty darn big and the flavor is very much clear, haha. I'm blaming lack of sleep, but you know what I'm so happy for it. I got to discover a great snack thanks to my deluded sleepy brain and I'm loving it so much. It's absolutely delicious to say the least. I haven't tried any of the other flavors yet because this one has had me so hooked. Plus it's gluten-free and super low calorie for the serving size!

Tumbler Double Walled Thermal Stainless Steel
Tumbler Double Walled Thermal Stainless Steel

I'm a woman who likes to take her time with beverages and the cold winter weather isn't kind to my hot coffee. It's not even that I take that much time to drink either. Sometimes I'll have a mug go cold on me in 10 minutes. Other times my peanut brain will kick in and I'll start playing with the dogs and forget all about my drink. Either way I end up with a cold coffee and that's just a crime against nature. Last month I decided to look into getting a tumbler and this one caught my eye immediately because well... marble. My aesthetic weakness. The price was also decent at $10 and I was able to get it next day because of Amazon Prime. And so far I'm really happy with it!

This thing works SO well in fact that one day I was exhausted from work and decided to drink chai tea to keep myself awake and not nap. It was so hot I needed it to cool down before I could drink it and needless to say things didn't end well for me. I fell asleep for two hours before I could even take a sip! And the crazy thing was still super hot even after the nap! Talk about A+ quality for you buck, haha.

Clean & Clear | Blackhead Eraser Scrub & Morning Burst Cleanser
Clean & Clear | Blackhead Eraser Scrub & Morning Burst Cleanser

Funny enough I'm typing this after picking up more bottles of both of these facial washes at Target this afternoon. I use the Blackhead Eraser Scrub about twice a week since it's an exfoliator and don't want to damage my skin. Using the Blackhead Eraser Scrub first and then putting on a pore strip *chef kiss* is amazing to say the least. It leaves my skin feeling so utterly clean and soft, it's a glorious feeling. I like doing this, like I said, about twice a week as part of a routine where I exfoliate, use pore strips, face mask, and a face sheet. Yes, I'm one of those people with a extensive skin care routine and maybe I'll share with you all sometime actually. Part of my morning routine is the Morning Burst Cleanser, specifically this orange one. I started using this one a few months ago, then when it ran out I switched to the teal version and hated it. Ok, hated is a strong word haha. It just didn't have the strong zest that this orange one does and I feel like that is such a needed sensation to really wake you up in the morning. Definitely recommend checking these out. Especially because they are so inexpensive for how well they work and easy to buy at your local store.

PaperMate Ink Joy Gel 0.7
PaperMate Ink Joy Gel 0.7

These pens have went from my most hated to my holy grail in the last month or so. I actually can't even remember why I hated them so much in the first place. I've literally had them for years, probably since I have started planning in like 2016 or so. They were recommended by follow planners in the community, but I think I used them a handful of times and put them away in a pen case. The only thing I can really think of is that maybe they caused smearing in my old planners since I used a lot of stickers. Since I'm using a minimalist approach in my 2020 planner system this really isn't an issue anymore and I have never been more glad! The pens do have very heavy ink, but so far I haven't experienced any bleeding through the pages or bad smearing. We'll see how I feel about them in a few months, haha.

Post-it Page Markers
Post-it Page Markers

Another amazing item I've literally had laying around unused in drawers for years. And I'm not just talking about a single pack either! It's really shameful how many paper goods I have that are collecting dust for no other reason than I got them because they were cute. Ugh. But they are definitely getting a bunch of use now and I couldn't be more happy. I use these on a daily basis in my planner set-up, but also for my novel writing as well. Having all the different colors makes it super easy to color-coordinate and organize everything in a simple overview type of way. I think one of the things I hated in the past - and this feels so dumb to say now - is using my aesthetic cute page goods because all I had was the one pack then they would be gone for good. If that does't scream hoarder I don't know what does, haha. I'm thankfully over that phase and was able to find these and finally put them to good use. These have particularly good sticky quality (which has been an issue with a lot of my 'cute' page flags) and are easy to write on. I have a lot of these to go through, but whenever I do I plan on buying more of these more usable page flags rather the the cute ones you can usually find at Target Dollar Spot.

And that's some of my favorite things in the past month or two! I feel like a lot of these items I'll still be using (or eating I guess) for a long time to come. Especially those dang popcorn mini cakes, which I'm totally craving right now. Do you guys have any recommendations for the rest of the winter season? Or maybe some things I should try out in the Spring? I'm still so undecided about how frequently I want to do these kinds of posts so any input is much appreciated. Well that's all for today Moonbaes, I'll catch you next time!
