Supermoon Lacquer - Polish Pick Up - October 2017

Hiya guys! It's finally starting to feel like Fall with the nice gust of wind in the morning. Almost chilly enough to grab my hoodie... almost. And then by noon time it ends up being blazing hot and I have to turn on the AC, haha. Enough of my weather ranting, you're here for the polish after all. I'm continuing with more polish from the October run of the Polish Pickup. This month the theme is Monsters & Mythical Creatures and for today I'm sharing swatches for Supermoon Lacquer contribution to the Polish Pickup Collaboration. 

The Hound of Hades by Supermoon Lacquer will be available for purchase through the Polish Pickup Shop October 6th at 11AM EST through October 9th. This full-size shade will retail for $12.00 each. There will be a cap this month and only 63 bottles will be available.

If you're not familiar with the concept, the Polish Pickup offers a fun, interactive experience that allows you to submit theme ideas, vote for your favorite theme, and selectively purchase your favorite polishes every month. As I mentioned before, the theme that was voted for October was Monsters & Mythical Creatures! This month Mardi found her inspiration in an amazing and terrifying photo of Cerberus. This monstrous canine guards the gates of the Underworld and is often described as having three heads and a serpent for a tail.

Supermoon Lacquer - The Hound of Hades

The Hound of Hades can be described as a blackened navy blue scattered holographic with blue/purple/copper and red/orange/green chameleon pigment, red-to-gold color shifting pigment, blue and turquoise shimmer, copper and gold sparks, iridescent red-to-green color shifting micro-glitter, and holographic copper and silver micro-glitter. That's one heck of a description! But that's because there is a lot depth and complexity going on with this shade.

The formula has a very opaque and smooth application. Definitely opaque enough to be an easy one coater, but I decided on an extra layer for sparkle. Consistency wise it leans on the thick side, but it's manageable and easy to work with. It dries down to a minimal gritty finish and smooths out after topcoat. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
