Hiya guys! Brace yourself... gorgeous polish straight ahead. I feel like this week is completely disastrous for wallets everywhere and Mardi from Supermoon Lacquer is completely to blame, haha. Today I'm sharing swatches for the Super Duo by Supermoon Lacquer and Supernatural Lacquer, which is their first ever collaboration together! The duo is inspired by werewolves – mythological/folkloric human-like beings with the ability to shape-shift a wolf or wolflike creature after either being cursed or infected. Sounds like perfection to me, especially considering it's the month of Halloween. Without further ado, let's get to the swatches!
The Super Duo by Supermoon Lacquer and Supernatural Lacquer will be available for pre-order Friday, October 20th at 6pm CST. Pre-order ends on Wednesday, October 24th at 11:59pm CST. The full-size duo set retails for $22.00 plus shipping and each shade will not be available individually.
Supermoon Lacquer - Kveldulf
Kveldulf can be described as a teal-purple based holographic multichrome with gold and copper sparks, red/orange/gold and copper/gold/green color shifting shimmer, and holographic gold and iridescent red-to-green chameleon micro-glitter. We are just barely into this review and I am already quaking.. and quite possibly drooling as well. This polish is all sorts of gorgeous and has such a luscious depth to the finish. That said, I do feel like the multichrome finish doesn't have a strong color shift. It's definitely a very subtle shift, even in direct sunlight.
The formula has a very opaque application, though not quite enough to be a one coater. It has a nice creamy consistency that is perfectly balanced and not too thick or thin. If there is one thing Mardi always does perfect it's that sleek pigmentation. Now it does dry down to a gritty finish that smooths out nicely after topcoat. Despite it's intense hue, I experienced no staining to my cuticles or nail beds. Shown in two coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Supernatural Lacquer - Varúlfur
Varúlfur can be described as a dark-brown based multichrome with purple/red/orange/gold color shifting shimmer and metallic blue and silver micro flakies. Now if Mardi is the queen of opaque wonders, then Stefanie reigns supreme when it comes to color shifting beauties. I'm so disappointed that I couldn't capture the amazing color shift action on camera. It easily shifts with the most minimal angle movements going from this vibrant redish purple to a darken brown.
The formula has a sheer application that builds-up evenly on the nail. It's very smooth and has a thin consistency, which is very manageable. There is no running to the sides or cuticles. One thing I'd like to note is that the scent of the polish is particular stronger than normal to me. Not strong enough to make me ill, but still worth noting. I experienced no staining on removal to my nail beds or cuticles. Shown in three coats and sealed with a glossy topcoat.
Overall the dream duo has come and completely crushed it beyond belief. Like how have these two not joined forces before!?! I'm admittedly a huge fan of both Stefanie and Mardi and have been since the beginning (just call me a super stan XD. But keep in mind that aside from swatching for them both I do also shop as a customer from them as well. Top notch formula and their creations are always super unique and gorgeous. Definitely recommend this duo for your collection, especially if you're a fan of multichrome finishes. And if you haven't tried these brands out yet, then this is the perfect time to kill two birds with one stone!
