Butter London - Teddy Girl | Swatch & Review

Hiya guys! I'm back today with a little bit more nail polish to share with you all. I'm slowing digging my way into the untried polish mountain, but it's actually a little harder than I thought. For starters... I ran out of acetone, haha. It's been so long since I have sat down for a long swatch session that I didn't realize my supplies were quite diminished. But thankfully I had enough to get through a hand-full and the pick of the day is Teddy Girl by Butter London. And boy is this nail polish super ancient! Okay that's a bit much haha. Can you guess what year this was released? Go ahead and guess I'll tell you in the next paragraph! Mind you I totally didn't pick this out with this intention, but damn is it perfect for Spring or what. It's definitely giving me some life while I'm stuck at home with not a whole lot to be doing. But when in doubt just polish, haha. I need that on a t-shirt or better yet a set of pajamas since that's all I'm wearing these days. Enough about that though, let's go ahead and get to the swatches!

Butter London - Teddy Girl | Swatch & Review

As I mentioned before, this shade is quite the throwback and I'm talking like 'get the time machine' kind of throwback. Okay, maybe it's not McFly level. This shade was originally released in Spring of 2012 as far as I can tell and it came as a set with a matching lipstick. How many of you guessed right? Whew. 2012 feels like a lifetime ago. Rest assured I have definitely not been hoarding it since then, haha. Though admittedly it has still been an embarrassing three years at least since it's been sitting in my helmer. I actually don't think I was even polish blogging back in 2012 though I did start to dip my toes into nail art. It was originally a form of distraction since I was in a long distance relationship with my now hubs. He thought it was a good hobby back then, I wonder how he feels about it now as I'm sitting 9 helmers deep in polish haha.

Teddy Girl can be described as a powder pink cream. It's that optimal staple shade of light pastel pink that every polish girl has in their collection. And if you don't have one then you need one. I don't know why, even if you dislike the color pink, at some point you will need a pastel pink like this one. I don't make the rules here. Although I have never pulled this polish out to straight up wear like I'm doing for this swatch, I have definitely taken this one out from time to time for nail art. I believe I even ended up trying to use this one back in January for my Seventeen nail art look. While I'll admit this kind of pastel pink isn't my favorite to wear on its own, I am really digging these swatches and how it looks on me. I was originally thinking the tone would pull too much warmth from my skin, but that isn't the case whatsoever. And there is something very classy about this hue too, like I'm pulling off a real princess vibe here... as I sit here in pajamas under quarantine. Nevertheless this polish is simply cute. Yeah, that's the perfect word for this perfect pink. Cute.

The formula has a sheer application that is a bit on the patchy side. That said, it does end up building up surprisingly well for a fully opaque finish. Consistency wise it feels well balanced, not too thick or too thin. This definitely helps with the layering and the overall ease of the build-up. I believe the thin brush is another factor that hinders the application a little bit. It's much too thin and small, if it were a flat brush I believe the coats wouldn't be as patchy per say. Bottom line, I'm definitely not a fan of the brush. It dries down to a smooth finish with a decent shine prior to adding topcoat. Despite the brush, this shade easily accomplishes that smooth luscious finish that we look for in creams and I'm sold on it. Shown here in three coats and sealed off with a glossy topcoat.

That's a wrap on this quickie swatch post! Man it's kind of crazy to be posting so much swatches lately, hope you guys are loving it at least. Especially because there is quite a bit more to come. This was definitely a fun one to dig out of storage and finally try out. How do you guys feel about this pastel pink? How many of you are doing your nails still or swatching while under quarantine? While being at home is nice and having some time to myself feels fantastic, I'm starting to go a little stir crazy. Part of me wants to set-up a journal series documenting the quarantine period, but then all it would read like every day is 'eat, work on computer, sleep' haha. But anyway I hope you have enjoyed this swatch and look forward to quite a few more. I'll catch you all later, be sure to stay safe xoxo Moonbaes.
